In 2014, we were introduced to a young producer by the stage name of Kygo. His style was different, to say the least. In September of that year, when he replaced an ill Avicii on the TomorrowWorld mainstage, we were all very surprised and a little confused.

With such a meteoric rise to superstardom, one wouldn’t be remiss to allow Kygo a break from his many endeavors. From being Norway’s preeminent purveyor of amazing tropical beats, to the release of his debut album, to making generous donations to social movements in Africa

In a recent interview with Billboard at the Backstage of Meadows Festival ,  Kygo sat down with Matt Medved to discuss some of the most recent happenings in the young producer’s life.

Here’s what he had to say about the biggest milestone in his career , the closing of  Olympics:

“It was pretty surreal for me. In the stadium it was 90,000 people I think, but on TV 800 million watching – just crazy. It’s hard to describe … I was just very happy. I think it took a couple days for me to actually realize and process what had just happened.”

This year 2016 , Kygo turned 25 and took the opportunity to play in his hometown on his birthday, where his premiered  his collaboration with Bono of  U2.

“It was a special moment for me to be on my birthday in the city I was born, and it was the first time I’ve played Singapore as well. I’ve only played four times in Asia now, but every time I go over, they’re really into the music. Electronic music is exploding over there right now.”
