Boiler Room is a global online music broadcasting platform commissioning and streaming live music sessions around the world. Founded in London in 2010, Boiler Room has now hosted shows in around 100 cities worldwide. 

Having been described as dance music’s Internet streaming party, Boiler Room has – since it was founded in 2010 by Blaise Bellville – evolved from a webcam taped to a warehouse wall to a global broadcaster streaming the best in underground music, from techno and hip hop to jazz and contemporary classical.

Budweiser x Boiler Room What’s Brewing is a 12-part global event series that seeks to tell the story of music scenes around the globe, which was launched with a showcase in Brussels in August this year. India is the second instalment in the series.

Sharing Budweiser’s plans for electronic music fans in India, Kartikeya Sharma, Marketing Director, AB InBev, India & South East Asia, said, ‘Over the course of 2016, we have brought down multi-faceted electronic music experiences – from exceedingly popular global music properties, to developing a more nuanced platform to encourage domestic talent to now introducing a whole new world of music to the ‘purists’. As proponents of electronic music culture, we would like to curate many more such immersive experiences for the Indian fans by drawing on our extensive connect with global music.”

He further added, “Boiler Room, as a platform needs no introduction to a true fan. It is one of the most authentic underground formats and we are really looking forward to bringing this down to India for the very first time. This event furthers our agenda to create never-beforeseen music experiences that are always brewing.”

Boiler Room’s maiden foray into the Indian music scene will see some of the most exciting underground producers in India together with Actress, one of the most forward-thinking producers in electronic music.

Actress :

Darren Cunningham aka Actress has earned a reputation for being a fine creator of cerebral abstract techno, that draws strongly from hip-hop, Detroit techno and various forms of UKrooted dance music. For the December 1, Boiler Room and Actress have chosen the most exciting upcoming electronic artists in India, that push the boundaries just as much.

Sandunes :

With six EPs and now a debut album, Downstream to her name, Sandunes has firmly established herself as one of India’s most respected independent producers. She has performed at SXSW (2015) and opened for the Pretty Lights Analog Future Band in Colorado in August 2015, along with collaborating with dubstep legend and DMZ co-founder Mala.

_RHL :

One half of the downtempo/electronica act Sulk Station, Rahul Giri also plies his musical wares as _RHL and plays everything from downtempo, house, techno, hip- hop, funk, trip-hop, electronica, ambient, drum and bass to anything in between. An active instigator of the Bangalore alternative/electronica scene, _RHL also regularly introduces new music and acts from Bangalore through his carefully curated music blog turned record label, Consolidate.

Oceantied :

A graduate of the Red Bull Music Academy class of Montreal, Oceantied is the solo electronic project of Bangalore-based post-rock outfit Until We Last guitarist Ketan Bahirat and is an exploration of Ketan’s electronic music headspace. Oceantied’s music can oscillate between floaty-downtempo tunes and fast-paced footwork & jungle music.
