Nikoleta Frajkorová better known as “Nifra” is one of the finest female artists from Trance scene. We all know, when it comes to female artists in EDM, trance to be precise, there are not many. But she is one true Trance lady whose sounds are creating an aura in her own style. Having her productions and remixes released on labels like “Armada”, “Coldharbour”, “AVA”, “Spinnin”, “Enhanced” and many more she is leading trance scene everywhere.

Team EDMLI got a chance to have word with this young and talented producer and it was fun to know more about her.

EDMLI – What is the story behind your alias “Nifra”, is it the same as “Tiesto” where he changed his name because it was difficult to pronounce his birth name across the world?

Nifra – Actually this was my alias right from the very beginning. I wanted something that no one else used, something unique. So I combined the first 2 letters of my first name and surname and that’s how Nifra was born 🙂

EDMLI – Markus is playing your banging track “Rebel” in almost every set, even we like to know more about this track as the title of this track completely justifies with the sounds, full of energy and euphoria. So can you tell us more about it, how it began, what was the idea, from where you got melody?

Nifra – Yes you are completely right about this one. I’m little Rebel myself, always been and I’m a very stubborn person. So I really wanted to create something that would represent my personality. I was playing around one time in flight on my way to Asia and that’s where I got the idea for the melody. This song created itself basically, I just went with the flow and didn’t take me too long to finish it.

EDMLI – There are not many Slovakian DJs & artists, how do you feel being from a place where we have not many artists?

Nifra – It’s crazy! I would never have thought I would be one of those artists out of my little country Slovakia. This journey has been amazing and everything I dreamt off has been coming true. I feel very fortunate.

EDMLI – Your appearance on ASOT 550 Den Bosch Pink Stage (a complete stage dedicated to only female artists), the set was simply massive. Was that a big turning point in your career or what else?

Nifra – Playing ASOT definitely put me more on the spotlight, but I feel female trance artists are sometimes overlooked. The turning point was when Markus Schulz and his team took me under their wings. He was the person who saw I wasn’t just another “girl DJ” and I will be forever grateful for this.

EDMLI – Being a DJ is always a struggle and if its a female, it’s double the trouble, how did you manage or cope up with this struggle?

Nifra – We have the same dreams as our male counterparts but as I said previously sometimes the talent is overlooked and its harder to gain respect. I would say don’t judge a book by its cover. I think my stubborn personality helped me a lot on this journey. And my goal always was to be real, which I think made the difference.

EDMLI – If asked to choose between Coldharbour, Armada, Spinnin, which family will you choose and why?

Nifra –I think all the families are great in their own way but the choice is obvious in this case. Coldharbour recordings have been my favorite label since I remember. Its the perfect blend between techy, proggy, and melodic trance and I’m extremely lucky to be part of the family and pushing the sound forward.

Markus Schulz recently toured India a few weeks ago, when can your fans expect you in India?
Nifra – I wish I had the answer to this question. I’ve had some crazy shows in India and my last time was 4 years ago. I have been wanting to return for quite some time. Fingers crossed for next year 😉

EDMLI – Any special message for all your Indian fans?
Nifra – Thank you guys for all your support and hope to see you soon in India 😉
