Bangalore, Salt Electra in Indira Nagar to be more specific was in a wow and yummy Progressive treat when British Trance & Progressives producer “Paul Thomas” was in the city, it was “Aries Artist & Events” who brought him to the Indian silicon valley.

Paul is no stranger to major events, having played for major dance festivals all over the world. He has a number of hit productions on his name. This year he released some fantastic new singles. He has released his productions on Size, Toolroom, Global Underground, Positiva, Xtravaganza, Little Mountain & Baroque. Recently he joined hands with “Aly and Fila” for their brand new record imprint FSOE UV.

He played really iconic set and everybody on the dance floor was having their throats sore coz of screaming out loud in joy and happiness, he played tracks from the likes of “Eric Prydz”, “Above & Beyond”, “Grum” – “The End Is Just The Beginning”, “Peace of Mind”, “Shout” just to name a few.

Just before his set, Team EDMLI had a chance to speak with him in person and to know more about him and his new label.

EDMLI – First of all a big congratulation on your new label “UV”, so can you please tell more about it like how it started and with what vision you started?

Paul – Well, it all started this year when i performed at “Vh1 Supersonic, Pune” this year, i met “Fadi” from “Aly & Fila”(Yeah, we met Fadi too at Supersonic 🙂 laughs)  and he told that he want to launch a label with me, and i was really surprised and expressed him huge thanks for this. So, when i went home i sent some promos to him and asked if you like them then we can think of something, which he really liked and then later we met in Amsterdam and what ideas i had regarding the label exactly the same he wanted.

EDMLI – You are from UK, “Aly & Fila” are from Egypt, geographical differences does matter, so how you co-ordinate / communicate?

Paul – The world is very small with Whatsapp(laughs). It all started with email first then Fadi sent me his number then we used to send Whatsapp messages and its very strange that it doesn’t matter what time of day i message him, he responds instantly whether its 2 AM or 3 AM in Cairo, he sleeps very less.

EDMLI – What plans you have for UV, are you going to release your own stuff or planning to sign some other artists as well?

Paul – Yes, i am going to release a lot of my own stuff, by the way a new single will be coming out in 2-3 weeks, called “Alphapapa”, i haven’t told this to anyone so yeah you are the first one to know it and also i remixed “UV”, that’s coming out on the label as well, and also planning to sign some really good artists, like there’s one from Israel who releases on “Guy J”‘s label, one from UK, he is going to coming out some stuff on “Anjunabeats” so yeah lot more is coming.

EDMLI – Since you have your label, any plans for releasing something on Toolroom Records?

Paul – Well, actually they contacted me and they got this label “ZeroThree” (EDMLI – yeah, i think its the same label where “PROFF” released his EP) i have worked with them long so they asked me to release something for their 100th records, so yeah will release something but honestly my current and full concentration is on “FSOE”, the label is new and even though it has been backed up with something huge but its very hard to get going and its all hard work.

EDMLI – Four of your tracks are into Beatport Top 10, how do you feel?

Paul – Great, i really struggled a lot and hard back in the past couple of years not knowing what kind of music should i produce and then with only one vision of producing progressives. And tracks are really liked by people so felt really really really awesome (smiles).

EDMLI – Your tracks are played on biggest radio shows like “A State of Trance”, “Global DJ Broadcast”, “Group Therapy”, “Future Sound of Egypt” with the likes of “Armin van Buuren”, “Markus Schulz”, “Above & Beyond”, “Aly and Fila”, any plans for album?

Paul – (Laughs) you know what, i wrote an album around an year ago and then scrapped it because i didn’t liked the tracks, they were more like Progressive Trance, i felt its just not me, its just not artistic, i spent 18 months on that album and then scrapped it and then i started making progressives, i am happy releasing the singles but i am planning to write an album by the end of this year.

EDMLI – You release tracks on various labels, so what’s the idea behind it, you already make you mind while producing that i will be releasing for this particular label or you decide it later when finished?

Paul – I used to make records for labels, thats how i used to do it, but then i realised i was just confusing myself, for example when i released on Spinnin it was more of EDM, Toolroom kind of techy and groovy and many other, then i decided later i will make records for me, for my label.

EDMLI – Any message for Indian fans?

Paul – Yes, of course, big big thank you for the incredible support over the years and its the India only where it all started, at Vh1 Supersonic, Pune and really really hope to play here soon.

Here’s a personal message from him 🙂
