After the Swedish music service reportedly opened its office in India, it became a subtle hint it might soon start offering localized content & now the confirmation comes from the main man himself!  The Co-founder &  CEO Daniel Ek confirmed during this thing during the company’s investor day presentation. The news came during the Spotify’s Investor Day 2018 in New York as the CEO talked about the launching of the services in India.

Daniel Ek said:

“We are working on launching in some of the biggest markets in the world, including India, Russia, and Africa which has a very rich musical culture”

So now Spotify will be one of the  big music streaming services to launch in India.  As before Apple Music was launched in the nation in the year 2015, Google Play Music entered the market last year, and Amazon Music just launched  barely two weeks ago. There’s no doubt that Spotify will have to compete with the homegrown Indian music services including Gaana, Saavn, Wynk, Jio Music. Well, during this week the Swedish music service has made its way in four new markets, including South Africa, Vietnam, Israel, and Romania.
