Ultra Music Festival has established itself as one of the biggest names in the world. With events hosted in 20 different countries across 6 continents, Ultra Worldwide has gathered the biggest and best names in the world under the iconic ‘U’ and brought them to all corners of the globe. The Ultra Worldwide tour saw it’s final show in Mexico City last weekend, marking the official end of the 2018 Ultra festival season.

The second annual edition of Ultra Mexico returned to Foro Pegaso for a weekend of electronic madness. A wide variety of local and international names came together to perform amongst the four iconic stages. Day one kicked of with a slow start due to weather delays and some headlining acts were unfortunately unable to play, however, the main stage saw the performances of three electronic music heroes.

Starting off the night was grammy award winning DJ and producer Afrojack with his iconic and influential sounds. Next up was Swedish house veteran Steve Angello, who teased a Swedish House Mafia tour for Mexico in 2019, amongst his unique and and ever changing sound. Finally, the man everyone had been waiting for, the king of trance himself Armin van Buuren took to the main stage to close out day one of the festival with an energetic set filled with new music. The Mexican crowd absolutely adored every second of this set and continued to chant his name as he exited the stage.

Over on the Resistance stage, the iconic arched megastructure hosted three tech house legends: Seth Troxler, Luciano and oh yes oh yes: Carl Cox! The renowned Ultra Worldwide stage hosted trance giants Markus Schulz and Ferry Corsten among other big names and finally, the UMF Radio stage hosted a range of local talents.

Day two saw an earlier start with another impressive schedule. The main stage saw future bass giants NGHTMRE and SLANDER who presented their Gud Vibrations show to the Mexican crowd. Fellow bass and trap producer Marshmello later shared the main stage. Swedish DJ duo Galantis performed a lively and exciting set filled with their iconic chart topping dance tracks as well as a range of new music and mixes. Finally, Axwell closed out the second annual edition of Ultra Mexico on the main stage with a touching solo set and stunning fireworks finale. He also confirmed that Swedish House Mafia will be returning to Mexico in 2019 “to save the world”.

Across the park, the Resistance stage saw the greats of Eats Everything, Jamie Jones and the fast rising Tale Of Us. The worldwide stage welcomed trance legends including Ben Nicky, Andrew Rayel and Cosmic Gate to name a few. With euphoric sets filled with classic anthems, the entire crowd at the worldwide stage fell into a state of elation.

Overall, the second annual edition of Ultra Mexico perfectly concluded the worldwide tour for 2018. Although the weather caused some unfortunate changes, the festival did extremely well to recover the lost time and put on yet another successful event. The Mexican crowd as usual, was absolutely wild and ultimately added to the entire experience.
