The annual awards show is held in Ibiza to honor the electronic dance music scene’s top performers, DJ Awards returns this summer for its 22nd edition. A whopping list of 125 nominees including influential figures like Above & Beyond, Carl Cox, Adam Beyer, Gareth Emery, Nina Kraviz, Charlotte De Witte, Solomun will be hoping to take home the coveted trophy.
Across the 14 categories, 10 of them are dedicated to honoring the best genre-specific DJs in Techno, Bass, Deep House, House, Melodic House & Techno, Trance, Progressive House, Tech House and the two newly added categories Afro House & Deep Tech. DJ Awards also has categories for Electronic Live Performer, Breakthrough, Newcomer and the prestigious International DJ of the year award.
In addition to the awards for superstar performers, the ceremony will also give out 10 Industry awards including that of Track of the Season, International Festival and Record Label of the year.
Legendary Techno DJ Carl Cox holds a unique record of being nominated to every edition of DJ Awards since it’s inception in 1998. Apart from the veterans like him, this year’s nominees witnesses about 54% first timers. The number of female nominees jumped up to 50% more, than that of in 2017, signifying a positive trend in the closing gender gap in the electronic music circuit.
Voting for DJ Awards 2019 is now open and you can cast your vote till 21st of July. The winners will be revealed on 16th September at a special ceremony in Heart Ibiza.
