Martin Jensen, the 27-year-old music sensation quickly made a name for himself across the dance music industry with hits like ‘Solo Dance’ and ‘Middle Of The Night’ – a collaboration with British pop/rock band The Vamps. The single quickly caught on as a hit, gaining more than 1 billion+ streams on Spotify alone. Alongside his own releases, he’s preparing for an exciting performance at London’s South West Four in August, in only a few years he’s secured his place as one of Denmark’s biggest international musical exports.

He’s also recently put out ‘Nobody’ his latest single with international star James Arthur back in March. Known for winning the UK X-Factor show, he has since gone and charted #1 singles, six top 10s and one #1 album all under his name.

We got an amazing opportunity to chat with him, check it out:

1. You kicked off 2019 by dropping a huge collaboration with James Arthur, “Nobody”. How did you guys team up for this song?

MJ: It’s actually a one and a half-year-old song. I’ve tried to get it released many times but I couldn’t find the right singer for the song. And then finally I found James and he complimented the song perfectly.

2. Tell us something about the artists which officially remixed your 2019 hit “Nobody”. Which is your favorite remix and why?

MJ: It’s actually funny because out of all the remixes I think Gil Glaze’s is my favorite because I met him two years ago – he opened up at a gig for me in Switzerland and I got his number and I texted him and said do you want to do a remix for my new single and he said yeah sure! So yeah that’s my personal favorite remix from the remix package.

3. Going in the flashback, can you share a bit about your track ‘Sí’ & how did it change your musical journey?

MJ:  It’s always fun when people say how did ‘Si’ change it because it was actually ‘Night After Night’ that was my first single and that was the single that brought me into the producer scene. Night after Night got about 800,000 plays in like three months without me having a record deal so that was super amazing, it was through Soundcloud back then. And then, of course, I got signed and I released ‘Sí’ and that took it to the next level. Every single I’ve released has built me stronger and stronger and stronger. People still recognize the song and remember the song, but yeah it was a lot of fun to do that one.

4. Back in 2017, you took your energetic sounds to the Tomorrowland Main Stage. How was the experience?

MJ: It was super amazing. It was such a good time. I played quite early but to play the main stage was absolutely amazing and to play the main stage and of course, I hope to be back very soon. Tomorrowland is a special festival.

5. As you have dropped a number of global smash hits, what do you think is the main ingredient of producing a worldwide hit?

MJ:  If I knew that I would tell you and I would tell everyone else and I would open a record label and I would sign everyone in the world. I have no clue!

6. What were your early influences which influenced you to produce your own stuff?

MJ:  I was tired of playing just DJ shows and playing other peoples songs and I didn’t have any influence on what I could put into peoples minds like lyrics and stuff so that was the reason I jumped into producing mode.

7. What can the electronic music community expect from Martin Jensen in the 2nd half of 2019?

MJ: I’m bringing out an EP very very soon and I’m dropping some singles with really good collaborations, Unfortunately I can’t tell you the names yet but I’ve been playing a lot of the songs in my live sets lately so if you wanna hear them you can go to my 1001 Tracklist and you can see my ID and my tracks.

8. As there’s a huge Martin Jensen fan base in India, what special message you would like to convey them?

MJ: To all my India fans, I would love to come and visit you very soon and we’re working on an India tour so maybe in the near future, I’ll be with you guys.

Make sure you keep an eye on Martin Jensen as he gears up to drop his brand new EP & lot of stunning collaborations!
