Cuban duo PAUZA has been making waves in the scene with a number of groovy releases with a heavy influence of Latin music elements. Recently, they dropped their fourth tune of the year called ‘Jungle Fever’.  The track sees the powerhouse duo fuse their signature Cuban groove sound with a mesmerizing jungle-inspired melody.  ‘Jungle Fever’ fearlessly combines PAUZA’s sultry vocal topline layered over a sensual deep house lead. The single creates a minimal build-up that explodes into a swirl of smooth, tropical sounds. Creating a contrast to the energetic, dancefloor-primed ‘Se vende (dub version)’ release, ‘Jungle Fever’ confirms their ability to incorporate their Cuban groove into every genre.

PAUZA are undoubtedly revamping the whole Cuban house music scene by culminating the Latin rhythms, Cuban folklore music.

PAUZA has proven to be an irrefutable force this year. In the past few months, saw the duo delivering a top-notch stunning opening performance for electronic dance music mainstay Swedish House Mafia while getting a slot in coveted Berlin-based label Get Physical’s Cocada: The Second Season compilation. PAUZA is determined to take their unique sound to new heights. PAUZA is gearing up for world domination. Later this year, they will be joining Beck, Vampire Weekend, The Offspring, The Kooks, and many more in Monterrey’s Tecate Live Out taking place October 19th, 2019.

1. Hello guys, how was the first half of 2019 for you?

Hello! We’ve been working on so many projects this year. Our releases this year have comprised of a heavy research component; every time we dive deep into the story of our culture we realize how much we have yet to learn. Most of the time we uncover elements that allow us to continue creating music that is intertwined with our culture.

2. Tell us a bit about your recent hit single ‘Jungle Fever’ which has got you signature Cuban groove sound.

“Jungle Fever” has been an absolute hit. We’re so happy with how successful it has been and excited about the fact that we’re gaining a deeper sense of our sound and to keep developing it.

3. What can we expect from your upcoming 6-track EP, “Iré”?

Ire will be full of tradition, full of Cuba, full of flavor, full of sugar, full of drums, full of life, full of PAUZA!

4. How did growing up in La Habana, Cuba influence your music taste & which acts inspired you to culminate the Latin sounds with electronic music?

Cuba is an island where music is abundant. We’re continuously inspired by its unique genres of music and its story and make it an active effort to incorporate this into our productions. It would be crazy not to use these elements in our music! We’re also influenced by DJs that we adore and respect, such as Pablo Fierro and Cristian Vinci, who also fuse culture and tradition with their musical projects.

5. Some time ago you opened for the global stars Swedish House Mafia, so what special efforts you put in for this performance? Were you guys nervous?

It was a once in a lifetime opportunity – a before and after a moment – for us. It was absolutely incredible to play in front of so many people who share our deep passion for electronic music. We prepared by picking out tracks full of heavy percussion and energy to warm the crowd up for the Swedish giants, but we made sure to remain loyal to our style despite the festival environment.

6. You guys are the first female electronic music duo from La Habana, how does it feel?

It is definitely a challenge to represent an island with 11 million citizens, showing the world our history and musical culture – it’s truly a challenge! We want to make sure we’re recycling traditional sounds native to our island with the newer and fresher sounds of House in the most respectful way we can.

7. Tell us about your dream venue to perform at and why?

We’d absolutely love to perform in Africa someday. In fact, we’d love to spend a month there absorbing their culture and taking in their traditions in order to manifest them into our music. Cuba and Africa are similar in many ways – our ancestors came from Africa!

8. Any special message to the electronic music community in India?

We’re so surprised and humbled knowing that our music has reached India! We really hope we’ll be able to visit and put on some shows to share our music with you all. Sending love and a big hug from our small, fruitful island 🤟🏽
