Nine months on from the release of their critically-acclaimed inaugural EP Lynn on November 2018, Dutch production duo Amy Root returns to the fray with their eagerly anticipated sophomore extended player, Elif. Out now via Amsterdam-based imprint Reflektor Records, Elif represents another master-class in deep, ethereal, sample-driven soundscapes from production partners Lukas Amer and Sjoerd Huissoon, who have enjoyed a remarkable debut year under the flourishing Amy Root moniker.

The dynamic two-part package kicks off with the title track Elif – a heady three-and-a-half minute cut combining tight rhythms, rousing lower end and a unique sense of melancholic euphoria that has characterized the majority of this duo’s productions to date. The emotive thematic is carried through into the second half of the EP with the slightly more experimental closing track June, as crisp percussion, despondent harmonies, and ambient analog textures are layered in perfect accord, to close out the EP in emphatic fashion.

The announcement of Elif comes off the back of Amy Root’s lauded collaboration with Klangstof back in May, and just days after the release of their official remix for Dutch-Ghananian singer-songwriter Nana Adjoa. Reimagining Nana’s 2018 single DOOA (taken from her debut EP Tale So Familiar), the remix is available to stream in its entirety here.

Having played a slew of live gigs at various high-profile festivals over the course of the summer, as well two sold-out shows supporting Maribou State in the Netherlands and Belgium, Amy Root returns to the stage in September for Lief Festival (September 7) and at Eilân (September 13) for their first-ever main stage booking.
