A couple of days back Russian powerhouse Khrebto debuted on Mixmash Records with an ultimate dance floor banger titled ‘Naughty Pleasure’. Having successfully cemented himself at the forefront of the dance circuit after emerging on the scene in early 2018, Khrebto has already collaborated with the likes of Don Diablo and R3HAB whilst producing official remixes for Maroon 5, Future and breakthrough remix of The Chainsmoker’s ‘Everybody Hates Me’ which surpassed 3 million streams so far.  Meanwhile, future house follow-ups ‘Redemption’ & ‘Lost Colony’ continued to receive support from EDM heavyweights including Martin Garrix, Brooks and many more.

After deserving commercial success Khrebto decides to change his direction into more underground sound and releases ‘Antigravity’ on Tiesto’s prominent imprint Musical Freedom. After that, there comes the release of his most recent track ‘Drippin Acid’ which gets huge DJ support from names like Tiesto, Martin Garrix, Matisse & Sadko, Sander van Doorn, JAUZ and many more.

Laidback Luke’s Mixmash Records continues on being the forefront to put out some amazing releases from a number of upcoming & super talented acts like Khrebto. Mixmash refuses to be pinned down or branded as a label that releases only one certain genre of electronic music and is adamant in its pursuit of good music.  His new sound surely opens up another exciting chapter for the rising producer.

Check out our chat with Khrebto about his newest release below:

1) ‘Naughty Pleasure’ is such a huge club hit. How do you usually manage to come up with such groovy ideas?

K: Well, It happens when I listen to random music stuff from underground to mainstage music (and it’s not only about electronic music). However, I get a lot of inspiration from old-school music too.

2) The bass in this one, with the kick & sub, is so tight and well-mixed! What tips would you give upcoming producers on Equalizing, compression and processing basses?

K:  I use a lot of different distortions and one of the coolest things that I’ve ever used for processing – RC-20 Retro Color, it’s a very cool thing which makes your sounds warmer and gives some unique color.

3) Usually while starting up tracks, do you usually start with making breakdowns, drop or anything else? Also, what DAW do you use?

K:  When I start working on the new project I try to make the main groove of the drop or to make the main lead sound. Sometimes you can get inspiration from the cool kick sound and then you build the whole idea around it, haha.

4) It has surely been so many years of great experience at the studios, any moment or track you’d look back to which you would remember forever?

K:  I think it can be Hyperreal by Flume.
