Charlotte de Witte is easily among the most well known Techno DJs in the world at the moment. The Dutch sensation, whose prowess behind the decks is unmatched, has once again has proven her talent in delivering captivating tracks. Following the success of her previous Extended Plays – ‘Liquid Slow’, ‘Form’, ‘Pressure’ on KNTXT last year and ‘Vision’ on Len Faki’s Figure label earlier this year, Charlotte returns to her own imprint with a pulsating new EP titled ‘Return To Nowhere’ with four spellbinding tracks – ‘Sgadi Li Mi’, ‘Return To Nowhere’, ‘Ensemble’ and ‘What’s In The Past’.
On releasing this new EP, the Ghent based DJ said:
“I made the EP before the current COVID-19 crisis. After being inspired by recordings of age-old traditional chants. So, I never intended it to be a ‘Corona record’. However, it did grow on me during this period of isolation.”
On the opening track ‘Sgadi Li Mi’, de Witte continues from where she left off in her doible EP’s last year as she explores her acidic and high energy sound, with an unusually long atmospheric breakdown. Up next; the title track ‘Return To Nowhere’ and ‘Ensemble’ are the ones that really mesmerize you. The hypnotic gospel chants echo throughout, combining seamlessly with rhythmic techno basslines, hi-hats and drum structure of de Witte. The four-track EP culminates with ambient tune ‘What’s In The Past’. The final track is nothing like you have ever heard before from Charlotte. While the enchanting voices may give you an out of body experience, it is needless to say that you probably won’t ever hear this song in any of Charlotte de Witte’s festival appearances.
