The collaboration which was long due has finally happened! The super Dutch team-up of Nicky Romero and Sick Individuals along with the Australian vocalist XIRA have delivered an absolute beauty called ‘Only For You‘. This new progressive house gem is OUT NOW on Protocol Recordings which also marks the debut of Sick Individuals and XIRA on the label.
Starting things off, let’s talk about Nicky Romero who has been an absolute beast in the studio this past year. With so many great releases in the past couple of months, Nicky looks completely unstoppable at the moment. He also released a new 3-track ‘Monocule (Volume 1)‘ EP under his new alias Monocule, which explores his love for the deeper and underground sounds. Things don’t stop here, Nicky also gave us a taste of his new project of the live show series called Another World, which is sure to bring the festival energy straight to our living rooms with an immersive visual experience. Also in the midst of all this craziness, Nick contracted the Covid-19 a couple of weeks back but there’s nothing to worry about, everything seems to be good now.
A special mention to the track that started it all for Mr. Nick Rotteveel. Yes, I’m taking about the sensational track from way back in 2012 called ‘Toulouse‘. And now after 8 years, Nicky recently dropped a 2020 big-room edit of it and the track has brought back so many nostalgic feelings with it. Truly wonderful stuff, do check it out right here.
Next up we have the amazing Dutch duo, Sick Individuals who are debuting on the label with a BANG by teaming up with the label boss! Known for their amazing energetic and progressive house tracks, Ray and Jim always deliver the chills with their releases. Their wonderful work on Revealed Recordings and their remixes for artists like David Guetta, Madonna, Rihanna, and many more have shown us how immensely talented they really are. The duo always tries to find opportunities to engage with fans on social media asking them for feedbacks and you can really see it reflect in their releases.
Making another debut on the label is the supremely talented Australian vocalist, XIRA. Her most recent release with the brilliant 3BLAU called ‘Tokyo‘ has taken the world by storm. Released on Above & Beyond‘s imprint Anjunabeats, the track is a top-class progressive and trance infused beauty, and XIRA‘s vocals on it are very memorable.
Coming back to the release ‘Only For You‘, it most definitely is a very well balanced Nicky Romero and Sick Individuals track! The sounds from both the acts are very noticeable and their combination of music styles hits right on spot. The track starts off with a Sick Individuals‘ signature emotional piano melody which then introduces us to the calming and soothing voice of XIRA. Her vocals really set the mood in creating a wonderful feel-good vibe for the listener which is full of emotion and warmth. The track then progresses to the build-up which develops the main melody into an energetic big-room-ish drop which also packs in the progressive house punch expected from the two acts.
These types of perfectly balanced collab don’t come very often and we’re so glad Nicky Romero, Sick Individuals, and XIRA came together to deliver this blissful track. Let’s hope to see more from this team-up in the near future.
