Following the album release, we got an opportunity to chat with the Netherlands-based DJ/producer duo on their new album and more, check it out below.

1. Hello Diederik & Stefan, congratulations on the release of your brand new album ‘Enter Your Mind’ & thank you for taking out time to chat with us!

DBSTF: Not a problem guys, thanks for having us for this interview to  celebrate the release of our album ‘Enter Your Mind’!

2. According to your perspective, how do you think your sound has progressed to reach this album?

DBSTF: The cool thing about an album is that you can experiment with some different ideas, without having a complete identity crisis. We brought some elements back from our oldskool sounds with ‘Harder Generation’, went more darky/rocky with ‘Enter Your Mind’, and had some full party/DBSTF vibes from these recent years with ‘Gates of Paradise’. All and all, a great representation of where we stand at this moment in our career.

3. The album has about 8 remixes of some of your greatest hits. What significance do they hold specifically in context of this album?

DBSTF: The whole concept around ‘Enter Your Mind’ were the episodes. As it was extremely hard to come up with an idea to fill 16 episodes talking about ourselves, we came up with the idea to also include 8 remixes on the album. This also represents the community of hardstyle as a whole and shows the fans that we as artists are also passionate about our scene and the music. Especially in these strange times it was a nice, warm signal and message to bring to the world; we are still in this together! Besides that, the remixes give an extra layer of diversity to the album, as every artist has their own unique sound and space in hardstyle.

4. The ‘Enter Your Mind’ series on YouTube is pretty amazing, a great way to reveal every single featured tune with an episode. How did you arrive at this incredible idea?

DBSTF: Normally we have our shows to create momentum around a song. Just releasing a song would not do justice to it, as we have noticed throughout the years. There is more to a song than just creating it, it’s also about creating memories. With this YouTube series we tried to achieve that without having the shows to help us out. It was really challenging, and to be fair, a lot harder than we envisioned when we started, but we are very happy with the end result. Also cool to hear and see people so enthusiastic about it. Many stated they were always waiting for the episodes to arrive, and it helped them get through 2021. Amazing to hear and we are happy we could be of any assistance.

5. One of the episodes featured Headhunterz, can your fans expect a collaboration in the near future?

DBSTF: Haha! The best kept secret, and most highly-anticipated request on our socials. We would be highly surprised if there would not be a HHZ x DBSTF collab seeing the light of day in 2022.

6. Did COVID-19 pandemic situation affect your process of producing tunes in terms of mental health?

DBSTF: Let’s be honest, what is going on in the world certainly does not help you with your creativity, but it also triggered us to create ‘Enter Your Mind’. We really started feeling bad about the whole situation and then just said to each other, “Let’s try and create an album while we sit at home”. We could have easily turned back in our shells and felt sad, but we turned it around for the better. With that being said: let’s hope and pray we had the worst of it, and we can continue doing DBSTF in 2022 and onwards!
