Every August, the top independent, rock, and pop musicians perform at the Summer Well Festival in Buftea, a town west of Bucharest, the country’s capital.

After the “Limited Edition” of last year, which also marked the festival’s 10th anniversary, Summer Well is making sure that the 2022 edition will go down in history by booking indie rock legends Arctic Monkeys as the headlining act, english rock band Nothing but Thieves, iconic Jungle, and many more. Even while the lineups may become better every year, Summer Well maintains its own, boutique event atmosphere. The serene setting is crammed with various stages, installations, and excellent cuisine throughout the twisting woods.

Arctic Monkeys

One of the bands most crucial to the 21st century is Arctic Monkeys. Whatever your personal opinion of them, you cannot discount how crucial they are to maintaining the rock ‘n’ roll flame.

Their tale is well-known. After their debut, the group resisted being labeled, and with each new album, they introduced a new musical twist that would keep listeners and critics guessing. They also managed to give their career a vibrancy that many of its stadium-filling contemporaries could only hope to have.

The band has experimented with a variety of musical genres throughout their history, whether it be the stoned desert rock of 2009’s Humbug, the classic rock-hip-hop hybrid AM, or the lounge pop of 2018’s Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino. Looking ahead, the band’s next follow-up to Tranquility Base will once again usher in change, as drummer Matt Helders recently revealed: You can’t help but be enthusiastic about the route Arctic Monkeys will take during the next phase of their career after hearing Helders say that “it is never going to be like ‘R U Mine?’ and all that stuff again, you know, the big riffs and things.”

Nothing but Thieves

Some bands will always be present on your playlist, whether it be because they evoke strong emotions or provide new insights. This band for us is Nothing But Thieves.

They have only released three albums, but they have already established themselves as one of the best bands around. Their live performances are equally impressive as their studio work, and they have consistently demonstrated that they were born to play music. The band’s most recent album, Moral Panic, received a lot of constructive criticism from both the press and fans.  With “Life’s Coming in Slow,” Nothing But Thieves steal the show in just two minutes and 49 seconds.

Jungle

Right now, Jungle is everywhere. The London Underground, billboards, TV advertising, podcasts, playlists, Apple Events—you name it. The British team of Josh Lloyd-Watson and Tom McFarland are dazzlingly grounded despite their prominence. They are essentially simply two young children who enjoy producing beats in their bedrooms and listening to music.

They had developed a devoted fanbase here thanks to their retro-inspiring blend of funk, disco, pop, and soul as heard on their self-titled 2014 debut album and 2018 follow-up For Ever, which was rather apt given that they view their records almost like a religious text.
