Landing this July on Chromaticc, Matt Fax’s third studio album is a wide-ranging and deeply personal body of work which sees the ferociously talented artist stepping out from his usual progressive-driven sound, encompassing elements of melodic house, downtempo, bass, hypnotic trance and more across 15 brand new and distinct tracks.

Celebrating over a decade in the industry, French DJ and producer Matt Fax has by now firmly established himself as a pillar of the melodic house and progressive scene. With a loyal, global fanbase and half a million monthly listeners on Spotify alone he is now widely considered one of the leading producers responsible for pushing the progressive melodic sound forward.

Set for release in July 2023, his new 12-track album Story Of The Fall traverses a wide range of electronic-subgenres. From club-ready, gritty basslines and cascading synths to melodic, vocal-led cuts, The Story Of The Fall embodies Matt’s 11-year path to the global heavyweight he is today, and lays the foundations for his sound for the future.

Throughout Story Of The Fall, Matt artfully blends the driving energy of progressive house, the emotive melodies of trance, and the raw depth and punch of bass music, resulting in a harmonious fusion that transcends sub-categorisation and offers a diverse listening experience.

On tracks like Shield and Twilight, intricate melodies are paired with pulsating beats and ethereal atmospheres while on the visceral Somber, Matt delves into chunky, static-ridden bass before a glorious, piano-led break lets the light shine momentarily through.Elsewhere you’ll find soaring anthems like Behind Blue Eyes – a progressive house reworking of the classic rock track – and High & Dry alongside Nathan Bell, and Eclipse: all undoubtedly ‘moments’ on the LP. These are where the raw, euphoric emotion of the album arguably reaches its peak, but it’s present throughout, and is part of what makes Story Of The Fall such a special release.

“Story of the Fall is my most personal project so far. It follows my evolution as a person and artists over the past 3 years, searching for a new identity in music and real life.” – Matt Fax

Over the past few years, Matt Fax releases have graced leading labels such as Enhanced, Colorize, Anjuna and Armada: an extensive catalogue with a diverse range of sounds firmly rooted in the melodic dance world. At just 27 years of age he’s already ticked off a host of impressive career achievements, including two previous albums and the career-spanning compilation X released in 2022.
