On Saturday, August 10th, 2024, the UNTOLD Festival reached new heights as over 120,000 fans from around the globe gathered at Cluj-Arena for the third day of one of the world’s most celebrated music festivals. The day was filled with high-energy performances and emotional moments, marking yet another milestone in the festival’s storied history.

Sam Smith: A Historic Performance

The highlight of the night was undoubtedly the live show by British artist Sam Smith, who performed for the first time in Romania as part of their Gloria – The Blackout Tour. Smith’s performance was not just a concert; it was a deep emotional experience that connected thousands of fans through music. With hits like “Stay With Me,” “I’m Not The Only One,” and “Dancing With A Stranger,” Smith brought the audience to their feet, creating a powerful atmosphere that resonated with love, freedom, tolerance, and friendship.

In a particularly touching moment, Smith met with 12 cancer survivors from different countries, brought together by the organization Youth Cancer Europe. These meetings, filled with gratitude and emotion, further underscored the inclusive and compassionate spirit of UNTOLD.

Smith’s presence at the festival was also marked by a special honor: they received Romania’s first-ever Diamond Record for their albums Gloria and In The Lonely Hour, a recognition awarded by Universal Music Romania. This historic achievement added an extra layer of significance to an already unforgettable performance.

Swedish House Mafia: Electronic Euphoria

Following Sam Smith, the legendary electronic trio *Swedish House Mafia* took the stage, delivering a set that can only be described as euphoric. Axwell, Sebastian Ingrosso, and Steve Angello lit up Cluj-Arena with iconic tracks like “Don’t You Worry Child,” “Save The World,” and “One,” alongside newer hits from their comeback album Paradise Again. The trio’s performance was nothing short of magical, leaving fans in awe of their electrifying presence.

Axwell, reflecting on the night, told the audience, “You created magic!” — a sentiment echoed by the thousands of fans who danced into the early hours of the morning.

More Highlights from the Main Stage

The night also featured a high-energy set from Salvatore Ganacci, who performed in a Romania national football team jersey, paying homage to the legendary Gheorghe Hagi. Known for his unconventional style, Ganacci delivered not just a DJ set, but a full visual spectacle, even taking a moment to honor the late Nicu Covaci, founder of the iconic band Phoenix.

German DJ Tujamo kept the party alive with his charismatic performance, while local artist Marius Moga surprised fans with a special appearance alongside his daughter Maria. The Main Stage also featured performances by Jaxomy and Jax Jones, who added their own flair to the night’s diverse musical offerings.

Beyond the Main Stage: A World of Sound

UNTOLD’s secondary stages also offered unforgettable experiences. The Galaxy Stage transformed into a techno lover’s paradise with performances by Stephan Bodzin, Charlie, Grigore, SIT, and a B2B set from Priku and Arapu.

At the Alchemy Stage, fans of trap, hip-hop, dubstep, and drum’n’bass were treated to sets by Deliric X Silent Strike, Dub Fm & Woodnote, and more. The stage’s diverse lineup kept the energy high, with each artist bringing their own unique sound to the mix.

Looking Ahead

The excitement for UNTOLD’s future is already palpable. In just a few hours, over 15,000 tickets were sold for the festival’s 2025 edition, promising an even bigger and more spectacular celebration next year.

As the third day of UNTOLD 2024 came to a close, it was clear that the festival had once again proven why it remains a beacon in the global music scene.
