In a world where electronic music constantly evolves, few names have stood the test of time quite like Talla 2XLC. A true pioneer of trance and a relentless force on the global dance scene, Talla has not only witnessed the rise of electronic music but in fact he’s helped write its history.
We got chance to get in touch with Talla in person, just before his set at World Club Dome 2025.
How are you and how’s 2025 going so far?
I’m great, happy to be here again on World Club Dome. Frankfurt is where I’m born and raised, so it’s always great to be here every year. So far 2025 is good, I can say after the pandemic which was awful for everyone, it came out really well and am mostly booked till the end of the year, so I travel around spreading my sound & I’m happy about it.
You are part of music industry from very long time, how do you think the music scene has changed over the years?
Its been more commercial, the art of DJ is lost somewhere now its all about entertainment or showcasing, but when I started it was not like that, I chose to DJ to spread love and proud to say I am one of the founding father of electronic scene.
You have, reworked for Nelix 1000 Sterne. How did that came up?
I became a fan of Neelix because of his early new progressive music and when I asked him to mix one of the CDs of the compilation which I am doing, we kind of become friends and its kind of a friendship I have with many artists. So I think that’s how it started.
What’s the future plan for Techno Club compilation?
Right now I have volume 74 with Roger Shah, very trancy, next one coming up #75 with Dr. Motte founder of LoveParade Berlin, the next one I can’t tell, but I have some colleagues which are asking for the next volumes we do three a year so there will be more good one coming.
What’s your stance on Trance vs Techno these days?
I will not say the up and downs, right now Techno is up and Trance is on the side but its coming back and honestly if you hear the techno tracks, the most successful ones have melodies inside and I also work on my Techno project which goes by name RRAW and people really like it, so both goes hand in hand.
Any moment which has completely changed your life?.
I perceive life as a gift and my life is music, I do it 24*7, have also family we do travel, holidays and I love it. During weekdays I work on my productions, compilations and on Weekend I am on Stage, this year November I’m celebrating my forty fifth year of DJing. So I think the main thing is being healthy, I don’t drink, I don’t smoke, only a bit of fast food.
Any lifetime memory you will be living forever?
Last year I was playing for the first time at Las Vegas with EDC, the festival in whole has 500,000 people, once you are on stage and then once you have lots of people, they really celebrate my music, always really special for me. Money is not the first thing. It’s the love and affection people that’s what the people also see. When I DJ, when I perform, the music comes first and the fans come first and in the front of stage people really celebrated and enjoyed my music, this is really something special for me
Any trance classic which you think is still untouched?
Everything is not untouched anymore but I try to rework them differently not like the funny EDM shit but keeping the original essence with new beats and energy and that’s what people really like for example I did Toca’s miracle and original producer liked it so much so I could release it on my label.
Any suggestions for upcoming producers?
Try to be unique, dont copy, its okay to remix a track but when you do your own tracks, try to do it originally and be something different.
