Slander, the bass music duo from Los Angeles were here in India for their debut tour with District 808 brought to you by Deep Sound Entertainment and RVR16, We got a chance to get down with Derek Anderson from Slander for an in depth interview after their event at Kitty Su,Mumbai.

Q: Last month we witnessed NGHTMRE live and now it’s you guys, It’s more like a Gud Vibrations tour for India, do you guys really look forward to take Gud Vibrations tour all around the world ?
Derek : Yeah, that’s what we are going to plan and do,we have to figure out how to make it happen next year, but I feel like we will do it somehow, We still have few more shows of the Gud Vibrations tour remaining and after that we are probably not doing any shows together with Tyler (NGHTMRE) for next 9 months but then may be next year we will take it to Australia, Asia and yeah India too.

Q : Do you have another EP in the making with NGHTMRE ?
Derek : Ohh, right now we all are really busy but yes we have one track that we have worked as of now on, but we have a couple of more shows together before the tour starts like a show with NGHTMRE in Bali, maybe we will sit down and make a track over there because we want to have one new song before the tour starts. It was quite easy for us to make tracks when Tyler was not doings shows but now he is super busy and so are we. You know NGHTMRE and us share house walls back there in LA, so ya that was easy for us to just sit down and produce tracks with the person next door.
Q : Woahh!! It will be super crazy for you guys producing music together?
Derek : Yeah, sometimes you just wake up in the morning and start working on the track and you just know the next door and Tyler is also there. For me, it is highly motivating to just wake up in the morning, fresh with the ideas and start producing tracks.

Q : What actually is heaven trap? Is it associated with trance somewhere?
Derek : When I first started getting into Electronic music it was because of trance music, so you can say my first love was trance music. The first show I ever went to was Armin Only in LA in 2008 where Armin played for like 9 hours on New Year’s eve and I was completed converted after that and for the next 9 months I was just listening to trap. Later when I realized that I have to be a producer, I knew that I want to make trap stuff but it has to be emotional trap music, I knew it was a risky thing to do, no one was doing it. Then I did the above & Beyond remix, there were many remixes to the song but I didn’t liked any so I was like I need to do this as I can put that the emotional connect of the track into trap music and yes that remix set us apart from others. Tyler actually helped me doing that remix, he came over to my house and helped me with the vocal chop.

Q : Do you think you have that unique sound which you can put into a debut album?
Derek : Yeah but the problem is people these days digest electronic music way to fast it’s like If you come out with an album, people will listen to it and then the next day they will forget and will move to another song, So the trend these days is to come out with singles every 2-3 week. We will do an album when we will get really really big, so yeah there is still time for it.

Q : What’s next for you in terms of new music ?
Derek : Yes, basically we released “Love again” last year for free but recently it got signed on Mad decent so they are gonna put it out and Dead Remix EP is also coming out soon. We have like 9 remixes for those 2 tracks that are gonna come out soon and our next original will be coming out on 1st Jan and I am very excited for that as I have sung the vocals for the track and written the lyrics too and we have a really really cool video with it. I used to sing when I was a kid and I didn’t sing at all after that, so I remember when i recorded the track I didn’t believe it took me so long to sing.

We also got a shoutout from Derek.
