“Ard Schilderink” better known as “Artento Divini” is a phenomenal name and artist when it comes to Trance and dance music scene, his tracks and productions are already supported and spin by artists like “Armin van Buuren”, “Tiesto”, “Ferry Corsten”, “Paul Oakenfold”, “Sander van Doorn” and many more.
After doing ghost producing and making EDM for almost 2-3 years he is back to his roots, yes the world of Trance and in fact back with a bang with back to back releases and bomb.
He travels “CloudNYN” in Bangalore India on every last friday of the month and set up an amazing concept called “Trancerdam” here.
Team EDMLI got a chance to speak and meet this wonderful and talented person who is not only very productive and hardworking but also spreads and shares the love for Trance every where with a big big smile on his face 🙂
EDMLI – Â Tell us how you come up with the idea of setting up Trancerdam here in Bangalore?
Artento – In December last year I received a phone call from a friend from India, who asked me if I was up for a gig in Bangalore. I had never played in India before, but the kick-off was a great success and an amazing experience for me.
In the following days I stayed in Bangalore, I met with the owner of CloudNyn and we discussed the possibility of making this a monthly recurring event. We started off with a F.O.M.B.(Front of my Bag) night, but people in India started to call it FUMP or FOAM instead of F.O.M.B., they thought it was a foam party (Laughs).
We realised that we had to change the name, and after a brainstorm session and sending texts to each other, CloudNyn suggested to name it “TrancerDam”. It sounds good because I’m from Amsterdam and I play trance music, it fits really well.
EDMLI – So why Bangalore? It could have been any other city in the world
Artento – (Laughs) Maybe, but the concept TrancerDam suits the crowd of CloudNyn. They’re excited about the music I play and the crowd knows how to make the dance floor go in overload. My first visit to Bangalore taught me that Trance music fits the Indian culture, so maybe in the future we can expand this concept to other cities, but for now TrancerDam is perfect for CloudNyn here in Bangalore.
EDMLI – Recently on ASOT you revealed you were doing Ghost productions, so with what thought you started and when and why did you quit ?
Artento – Long story short, I started ghost producing to improve my production skills. During traveling I met a DJ who asked me if I also produce EDM stuff, I said yes and finished the first track within one week, the track got quite some attention. I’ve released a couple of tracks as a ghost producer, but actually it was more like getting paid while studying. 🙂
Two years ago my best friend(eric) passed away, to young of age. Eric was a fan of my specific Trance sound and always inspired me to give it my best when making a track. After he passed away, and after a very sad period of time I went back to the studio and started producing music again. It felt different, instead of looking to the future I had been listening to the past in the period after his death. Listening my old tracks from a decade ago, listening his trance favourites. It greatly inspired me to start making Trance again. His energy always lifted me up. That uplifting energy is what I translate to the dance floor.
EDMLI – You release your tracks on  so many labels, what is the idea?
Artento – (laughs) There isn’t really an idea. You can compare it with working at a different company. After releasing my first track “4LB” at Spinnin’ Records and from thereon moving to High Contrast, now I’m very happy to be a member of the A State Of Trance-family. As most DJ’s do, you release a couple of tracks on one label, work together with someone else and release it on another, etc.
Late last year, right after I’ve finished “Hypercube” I sent it to Armin, thinking it would fit his sets. Within four hours he replied with the message: “this track is huge”. That’s how I came to join A State Of Trance.
EDMLI – Whenever you fly to India, apart from Trancerdam, what you love to do here?
Artento – Visit the city centre, walk around and experience the vibe in Bangalore.
I come to India every last friday of the month for Trancerdam and we are getting more gigs throughout Asia. I still have contacts in Indonesia and Malaysia from the past and hope we can work together more often. I love the Indian people and their culture.
EDMLI – What has 2017 and 2018 in store for Artento Divini? Any plans for album ?
Artento – Not yet. I’ve been away from Trance music for a while and want to release good tracks for the time being. Maybe in the future that will lead to an album release, but not any day soon.
EDMLI – What do you think about the Trance music scene here in Bangalore?
Artento – It’s growing and getting bigger each day. My interview on Armin’s ASOT831 was good promotion for Trance in Bangalore. Afterwards, I received numerous of messages from people in Bangalore asking: “Are you playing in OUR Bangalore?”
We’re getting more and more Trance lovers in CloudNyn every month. Our latest edition was packed and the atmosphere was great. The crowd really appreciated Trance and couldn’t ignore the beats(laughs).
I know that Psy-Trance is a big scene here. But I like to do things a little different. I start my set off with some mellow Trance and work my way up to a more techy sound like the sound of Markus Schulz and then move on to uplifting and Psy-Trance. I’ve noticed that people here are openminded and love the sound that I play, The best compliments that I had so far here in Bangalore are: “Finally a new sound in Bangalore!” and “a DJ who is telling a story”.
Thanks to everyone supporting me at Trancerdam.
EDMLI – Tell us more about your personal life, who Artento Divini is in person?
Artento – I’m a very energetic, positive and disciplined person. Well, that’s what I hear from my friends. Beside my studio work I like to drive my motorcycle, doing workouts, and spending time with my girlfriend, family, friends and my crazy dog. I also love to cook for my loved ones. By day a loving boyfriend, by night a man of beats. (laughs)
