Good news for Romanian festival fans, Awake Festival is here and it’s all we’ve been waiting for. AWAKE brings the New Funky Royals theme for the first boutique festival in Romania, which will take place between 17-19th of August in Gornești, Târgu-Mureș.
The excitement and pride in Awake radiated last year from every surface; it was present in the organizers, the lovely and helpful volunteers, the magical crowd and in the dynamic lyrics swimming through people’s hearts like a wakeful dream. Although it is a small festival we shouldn’t have small expectations; be sure that the organizers will bring out the big guns. Besides, the location, Teleki Castle is the perfect place to bring the most animated selection of people, no matter if we are talking about music, theater, movies or nature, Awake Festival is not going to disappoint us.
For a small festival, Awake manages to put everything together in the schedule, the picturesque estate, food trucks, a Forest library and the Cinema under the bridge that was showing films from the Transylvanian Film Fest. We can admit that everything was on point.
This year’s first and biggest headliner is Wilkinson, known for being one of the most famous and loved DJs at the moment. His album “Lazers Not Included” was on the top of iTunes Dance in 10 countries and his hit “Afterglow” brought him millions fans on YouTube, and even being broadcasted on the radio.
Coming up on the top of the list, Milky Chance, German band with a genuinely success story will be present there to “steal the dance”. But this festival is looking for fans from an extended range of music taste, so they added a rock indie band, The Parlotones, a punk band, The Subways and a wide variety of Romanian known bands like Subcarpați, Vița de Vie, OCS and many more.
