So the first boutique festival in Romania, got to an end. It seemed so fantastic, we were funky, we were royals and for the first time ‘Awake’ in a fairy tale. Coming from the heart of Romania, born in 2017 at Teleki Domain, Târgu-Mures, Awake Festival was our home, our story teller for 3 magical days. Moments full of joy, fun, art, music, all for 27.000 people from all around the country.
We all have been waiting for Awake to cross the line from last year appearance, and guess what? They crossed every limit of expectation, starting from music, artist performance, stages filled with princesses and princes that gave the festival the rhythm of a royal crowd, tables laden with delicacies line the walls and the forest that was once so alive.
Let’s take a journey of our presence at the festival. We found 4 stages, meetings with the organizers, lots of surprises from sponsors, gifts for recycling, artists that made the crowd speechless and if you let your heart rule your head you could have made charity acts for children suffering of cancer.
When it comes to stages, we totally have to mention two of them: The Cube Stage and Telekom Electronic Beats. On the first stage, Wilkinson, D’N’B act from London, made the crowd insane and left us with the feeling of longing for his presence. Also, DJ Shiver, one of the best Romanian DJs, made his music heard all over the festival . Telekom Electronic Beats stage kept our heart warm even on the cold nights and mornings with DJs like James Zabiela, Eelke Kleijn, Culoe de Song and local DJs like Vlademir, Dan Medeșan,Vlad Bretan and others . Going back at the camp and hearing their music made us regret going to sleep, so we have to say thank you for those DJs and their performance and tripping the light fantastic. Anyway, to us, at Awake Festival, music was like embracing the feeling and let it take control, finding ourselves in a different world, a world full of joy.
Asking of getting bored? Nah. If you like drinking beer at festivals, this is your lucky day. Grolsch had this spinning wheel where you could win free beer, or you could collect 10 plastic cups for recycling and win various prizes. You left your shampoo at home? No problem. Climb a wall and Nivea gives you a free one. You wanna take the Awake music with you at home? Answer one question about the line-up and win a vinyl including electronic music. Wanna see a movie or feed your mind? Small benches near the castle just for us with epic films from TIFF and funny shows at the FEED YOUR MIND platform. Well you see.. Awake made it all for us.
We danced, we raved, we felt good, but let’s talk about the food and the camping. We need to point that the camping was really close, like one minute away. But the real star is the food. Our mouth watered the moment we spotted the sublime traditional Hungarian food, Lángos, and the spicy duck soup. In the end, music filled the air, festive beats lifted the forest and made the people want to move, jump and sing. The festival was feathers and sparkles, smiles and laughter. Even the theme was in our souls. People walking by in costumes like priests, witches and taking the role in their hands when we talked to them, it was funky, as in the name “The Funky Royals”. We totally were Awake.
