Festivals curated by artists have provided a much-needed breath of fresh air for ravers, the success of Excision’s Lost Lands and Armin Van Buuren’s A State Of Trance are a testament of that. The musical genius Porter Robinson launched his very own festival Second Sky this past weekend and its debut edition was an undeniable success with over 30,000 strong sold-out crowds across the two days 15th & 16th June.

The festival initially was called ‘Multiverse Festival’, but was soon rebranded as Second Sky Festival after complaints from the local promoter with the same name. Second Sky had set out to be a one-day event at Middle Harbor Shoreline Park in Oakland, California. However, when the tickets went on sale, Second Sky saw an unprecedented demand from over 60,000 people waiting to get their tickets. This prompted Porter and his team to add another day of the festival with the lineup of Madeon, Cashmere Cat, Kero Kero Bonito, Chrome Sparks, Anamana Guchi, Wednesday Campanella, Nina Las Vegas and Porter Robinson himself performing over two days. The only change was due to G Jones‘s inability to perform on the second day of the festival, a surprise set from none other than Skrillex to thrill the crowd.

Porter also created news when he decided to open the festival with his Virtual Self alias for encouraging the fans to arrive at the festival early, eventually helping the lesser known acts get their deserved recognition. The melodically gifted producer enthralled his fans by closing out the festival with exclusive Worlds set, a performance showcasing his genre-defying iconic 2014 album Worlds.

The entire Day 1 of the festival was live streamed on Twitch. In case you missed it, you’re in luck as one fan managed to record Porter’s full set and uploaded it for us to enjoy. Watch it here before it’s gone:
