Deadmau5 took to his social media platforms to announce an upcoming album titled ‘here’s the drop’, set to be released on 4th October. If the album artwork is anything to go by, here’s the drop seems to be a follow-up to his 2018 compilation album ‘where’s the drop?’.

Where’s the drop saw deadmau5 collaborating with composer Gregory Reveret to record live orchestral versions of 15 of his biggest hits including Strobe, Imaginary Friends and monophobia. But what’s left fans confused is whether this new album will follow a similar pattern and be entirely orchestral OR if it will be a remix album infused with heavy drops – as the title implies.

2019 has been quite a busy year for Joel Zimmerman aka deadmau5. After debuting his brand new Cube V3 at Ultra Miami this year, Joel is taking the cube on a full fledged tour across US. On the release front, deadmau5 unveiled volume 3 of mau5ville compilation EP series this year. The mau5trap boss, highly regarded for his complex and sublime progressive productions, also worked for Official Soundtrack of a Netflix Original Film Polar, which was released earlier this year.

In a reddit thread earlier this year, deadmau5 had confirmed his plan on releasing an album by stating: “during said month or months, imma do a new album (bout fuckin time right?) while the adults schedule up the tour shit and lock in the dates… and then we just haul ass from continent to continent with new album, new cube, blah blah. I mean, that’s the basic formula.”

Now that Cube V3 is on the road, progressive house aficionados can get their hopes up for new deadmau5 originals. Keep an eye on this space for further updates on here’s the drop, but for now, you can pre-save the album on Spotify and Apple Music from the link below:
