One of dance music’s hottest properties right now, MR.BLACK continues to go from strength to strength with a series of massive releases including his recent collaborative effort alongside Futuristic Polar Bears, MARIANA BO.
We got an amazing opportunity to chat with him, check it out below:
1. You have been in the scene for over 5 years. What would you say has been your biggest accomplishment so far?
Y: To perform at Tomorrowland and to have sold-out shows around the world. I am lucky that I have the opportunity to bring the movement of hybrid sounds to the current dance music scene.
2. As far as music production goes, you’ve switched a few genres. What would you say is your strong suit?
Y: I always love to bring my sounds and my influence from the psy roots to the current world of EDM in a different vibe and fresh take. This also applies to my shows, I like to start from 128bpm and then go up to 150bpm – to me, it’s like telling a story.
3. Tell us more about your project, Warriors with Skazi?
Y: We have been doing Warriors project for almost 2 years and the project is no longer active since early 2018. It was a cool run and we brought a lot of music but decided to depart and focus on our solo projects.
4. You have been a part of the Revealed team for a while. Do you think being a part of Revealed took your career to another level?
Y: It’s a huge privilege to work closely with the Revealed team and alongside Robbert (Hardwell), they’ve supported me since ‘Hu Ha’ and it’s been an amazing journey with them so far. They’re an amazing team and we’ve got big plans for 2020 together so stay tuned 🙂
5. Tell us something about your recent release with Mariana Bo & Futuristic Polar Bears called ‘Gypsy’ which came out on KSHMR’s Dharma Worldwide imprint.
Y: With Futuristic Polar Bears, I’ve actually released ‘Madness’ earlier this year on Revealed and always been exchanging ideas for some time and with Mariana, we’ve always wanted to work on something but we’ve been looking for the right idea to collaborate on. We both collaborated with KSHMR, supported each other’s music and also shared stages together so it was just a matter of time (or idea!) till we found the perfect hook and then ‘Gypsy’ was formed. Actually, we’ve played the track together in Israel and in Amsterdam after we’ve finished the first sketch in my studio.
6. You have collaborated with many big names in the industry. Which collaboration has been the most special to you?
Y: It’s a tough question as everyone are great artists and persons but with KSHMR it was something special, he came to visit me in Tel Aviv in my studio and we’ve been working during that weekend on the track. He is a great mind and producer and it’s been a privilege working with such artist.
7. You’ve played in a lot of countries around the world already, is playing in India on your bucket list?
Y: I’ve actually been playing in India for quite a few times and I’m so excited to come back to India for New Year’s Eve. It is an amazing country, and the fans are super dedicated and welcoming so I always look forward to returning whenever I see that India is in my tour schedule.
8. Any message you would like to give to your fans here in India?
Y: Of course! I cannot express the amount of support and love I receive from India, it’s a great opportunity to say thank you! And I look forward to seeing you all in Hyderabad for my NYE show.
