As Unity joined forces with Laidback Luke, it created that perfect balance between Unity’s signature sound and Laidback Luke’s Twisted House style. Laidback Luke added his magic to ‘Make That Thang Go’ which resulted in this activating, energetic production that will make its way onto stages worldwide! With Unity’s big plans to infuse his origins into his dance music by using ancient Chinese instruments, ‘Make That Thang Go’ is only the start of what Unity has to offer us in the time to come. 1. Hey guys, your latest collaboration ‘Make That Tang Go’ just came out! How did you guys team up and how did the idea of this collab was born?
Laidback Luke: I made a VLOG about it! It’s up on my Youtube channel, I made a full producer tutorial on that, that might be cool to watch : )
Unity: After signing with Mixmash a few years back, it was always a goal of mine to do a collab with Laidback Luke. I told myself I wasn’t going to show him any tracks until I was sure that he was going to like it. And thankfully, he liked the track and agreed to do the collab.
2. Lucas, Unity has dropped a number of bangers & remixes on your record label MIXMASH. How did you find this young gun & how would you describe his sound?
Laidback Luke: It was the former Mixmash A&R Remon, or our CEO Georges who discovered him! They brought my attention to him and we were very happy to sign him! At first, I thought Unity’s sound was more Trap, but I’m happy to discover it has become more House.
3. Unity, how does it feel to be being a part of such a well-established record label & collaborating with the main man Laidback Luke himself?
Unity: It feels amazing to be part of the Mixmash family. Everyone’s always trying to help each other out even when I’m based on the other side of the world. Collaborating with the big boss was always a goal of mine and I’m so glad it happened to close the year 2019.
4. This year, your record label turned 15 & also hosted a massive Mixmash Takeover at ADE 2019. With 15 years of releasing top-notch music, how would you describe the transformation the electronic music has gone through?
Laidback Luke: Every year there are so many transformations! Overall the music sounds cleaner and more effective now. Throughout the years, dance music added more styles too! When we first started, there weren’t that many styles around. Overall I think the feeling has stayed the same because I basically only release on Mixmash what I love and what I’m able to play out.
5. What can your fans expect from you in 2020?
Laidback Luke: A lot of tracks! I’ve been making a lot of music since I’ve started making a VLOG once every two weeks. So the other week, I’m making a lot more music again. My singles are stacked until Summer 2020 now and I can’t wait for you guys to hear this fire!
Unity: My fans can expect more music to come out in 2020. I’m still trying to refine my sound, but I feel like I’m getting close and ready to take the next step in my career.
6. Hey Lucas, it has been a long time since you have been to India. We hope to have you back soon! (fingers crossed) Any message for your Indian fanbase?
Laidback Luke: I know, I’ve been missing India! Someone needs to book me because I would love to be back and play!
7. Unity, do you have any message for your Indian fans?
Unity: I’ve always wanted to visit India and learn about their cultures. And hopefully one day, I can perform in India too. I hope you see you guys and perform for you guys very soon.
