The latest episode of Protocol Radio #384 has done something special which we need more of, i.e; “A Female DJ Special Episode“. The amazing guests for this episode were Sophie Francis, Laura van Dam and Natalia Barulich. And it was so great to see these ladies perform live in the studio.
With the dance music industry mostly dominated by men, it’s very rare to see female artists performing on the main stages of major festivals and clubs. And this situation definitely needs a quick turnover. We need to support the upcoming and present female artists so that this imbalance in industry can be changed. Luckily, with this new episode of Protocol Radio, the future looks bright for the women in the dance music industry. It’s clear that Nicky Romero and his team has taken this issue into account and did this special episode introducing us some great female artists. Hats-off Nicky Romero and team!
The first guest to perform on the episode is a very talented Dutch DJ/Producer, Sophie Francis. She started performing at the age of 17 and is the youngest artist to be included in Spotify’s (NL) “Top 25 most influential artists under 25“. She is currently signed on with Spinnin Records and has released tons of music on the label. Few of her latest releases are “Lose My Mind“, “On My Way” and “Six Pack” (Future House Music). She also premiered a new track on the show which is going to release in January 2020. So do make sure to follow her on socials for more updates.
The second guest who performed is also a Dutch DJ/Producer who goes by the name AIZY a.k.a Laura van Dam. And I only wish I had discovered her earlier because she’s just so good. The set she played had such quality tunes including some of her own productions. The 3 upcoming ID’s of hers are going to be massive and I can’t wait for the releases. Her latest single “SkyFly” was released on Sander van Doorn‘s imprint Doorn Records and it’s a banger! She’s sure to create a buzz in the industry with her amazing music in the coming years.
Last but not the least, our third guest came to the Protocol Studio all the way from the United States. Her name is Natalia Barulich and she’s a DJ, a vocalist and also a model. She was once a part of the duo named Natalia and Esther but unfortunately they’ve parted ways at the moment. On this episode, you can listen to Natalia‘s beautiful voice as she sings a Spanish song called “Selva” which she collaborated on with Kryoman and Spense. Do stick till the end of the episode to hear this beautiful track. Also, there seems to be an upcoming collaboration between Natalia and Nicky, so stay tuned for that too.
Finally to finish things off, let’s hope to see more female artists in the dance music scene in 2020. And also, let’s not stop our support and encouragement for them for many years to come.
