The legend Sven Väth requires no introduction, he is already in India touring the beautiful state of Rajasthan exploring its culture and diversity.  An absolute visionary, techno pioneer whose sounds & abilities have influenced a number of artists will be making his way to India this week for his most anticipated performance at the debut of DGTL in India, Asia. His label Cocoon has played an important role in the careers of top tier acts such as Loco Dice,  Roman Flügel, Guy Gerber to name a few. Staying true to his roots, Sven Väth always delivers a phenomenal set while playing music that has been released on vinyl in his sets.

Sven Väth is quite simply unique. A legend in his own life with a commitment and passion that has influenced the advance and evolution of electronic music. The most charismatic DJ of his generation is more vital and relevant than ever. Utterly professional, utterly unpredictable. No one else like him. Not even close.

We got a precious opportunity to chat with as he reflects upon the spent some time in India, talks about his personal history with the country & shares his excitement of performing at the first-ever DGTL Bengaluru.

You have spent some time here during the 90s, could you tell us a bit about that?

SV: I was sharing a beautiful house from 1991 – 1994  with a good friend of mine in the north of Goa. I stayed almost 3 months every year at that time and traveled a bit around in the south. It was the time of GOA being very hip, many International freaks and hippies were there at this time. All over sudden I was in the middle of it. People were recognizing me and appreciated my work on my record labels HARTHOUSE & EYE Q records. The music and parties were the driving motivation of the scene. Psychedelic vibes and liquid dreams in a very beautiful environment and nature and the locals were always involved.

What kind of places/clubs did you play at? And would you say that your time in India inspired your future career?

SV: The particular thing was, that I was not playing in clubs at all. Just outdoors at beautiful places under palm trees and on the beaches. It was definitely a special time and had an impact on my work.

What are your thoughts on the music scene in India?

SV: I  know so much about the music scene in India actually, but I recognized that the electronic music scene is growing quite fast in the last few years. I received many more requests recently but unfortunately, it’s not easy to fit India-gigs in my schedules nowadays.

How does it feel to go back for DGTL Bengaluru?

SV: Of course I’m really excited to come and play for DGTL in Bengaluru, especially since my last performance in India was a long time ago. I love the country and traveled it as a tourist recently, so I am happy I can combine this with my first ever DGTL appearance in this beautiful country,  I heard only good things about DGTL from my colleagues and friends.

Do you have memories to share with us from your time in India?

SV: I was and I am still really inspired by my India travels. Back in the days I had a recording machine DAT with me and did a lot of field-recording, the result was my first solo album: “An Accident in Paradise “ 1992 on released Warner Brothers.”I love India, the people & nature.”

We are super excited to witness the legend take over the decks and unleash his magical grooves!

On January 11 & 12 2020, DGTL will host their very first Asian edition at the Lalit Ashok, Bangalore.
