When Blueprint first landed in 2017, it marked a decisive shift in how an electronic artist album could be conceived. Moving away from a singles-driven approach, Ferry Corsten delivered a cohesive, long-form body of work, shaped by transitions, narrative flow and a unified musical vision. In doing so, Blueprint reset expectations for the modern electronic album.
Now, nine years on, Blueprint returns to the electronic music landscape in reimagined form as Blueprint Reprinted.
For this new release, Ferry has handpicked five contemporaries to reinterpret six standout tracks from the original album, breathing new life into its core themes while honoring its legacy.
Ferry himself opens the EP, revisiting Reanimate. Once defined by its slow-motion drumatics, the track is now retooled for peak-time impact. Powered by muscular production, refined synth work, a heightened tempo and Clairity’s cascading vocals, the reprint delivers a fresh sense of urgency and drive.
Next up, Giuseppe Ottaviani takes on Drum Is The Weapon and lives fully up to its name. His razor-sharp sequencing strips the track back to its functional core before rebuilding it with relentless percussion and uncompromising energy, resulting in a full-throttle club weapon.
Frankyeffe follows with a rework of Trust, originally one of Blueprint’s overture moments. In his hands, the cinematic sweep is transformed into a darker, end-of-the-night pressure cut, where heavy low-end propulsion meets tightly wound tension.
At the EP’s midpoint, Blueprint Reprinted leans into more progressive territory. Wherever You Are, Ferry’s collaboration with HALIENE, originally balanced heartbreak and hope in equal measure. Hel:sløwed reshapes it through filmic textures, restrained builds and pulsing basslines, delivering drops with depth and emotional weight.
Matt Fax continues the progressive arc with his reprint of the album’s title track. Blueprint now chugs and throbs with intent, its signature motifs stretched across rolling low-end grooves and reverb-soaked effects, trading immediacy for a deeper, more immersive journey.
Closing the EP is Genix, whose housified drums set the pace for his take on Eternity. Gradually, layered sub-melodies cast long atmospheric shadows before the track blooms into a hypnotically intense finale.
Celebrating the enduring legacy of the album, Blueprint Reprinted is available now on all major streaming and download platforms via Black Hole Recordings. A limited 2×12” vinyl edition is also available, alongside an exclusive Blueprint Reprinted t-shirt via the Magik Muzik store.
