i_o is showing absolutely no signs of slowing down his unbelievable run in 2019 with the release of yet another banging EP. Young American producer Gareth Lockhart has been producing music through different aliases for years before finally managing to breakout with the i_o project. After putting out his dreamy collaboration with Tommy Trash ‘Let Me Go’, Death by Techno EP, remixing ‘Imaginary Friends’ by deadmau5 and Above & Beyond’s Alchemy, and ‘Truth’ with long-time friend Jauz, the notorious producer returns to mau5trap with a 4-track EP. The techno demon brings four more heaters in the ‘House of God’ EP including a collaboration with the fellow rising sensation Raito.

The signature i_o sound is as dark and gritty as ever. Gareth manages to stay true to the banging hard-hitting vibe which has helped him carve his own identity in the scene and yet introduces new elements with this latest offering. The opening track ‘Possessions’ sets the mood straight with groovy basslines accompanied by apt vocals “I can’t stop moving my feet, no. I know I can’t be the only one.” The next track is the title track ‘House of God’ with infectious synths and chord progressions building up to one heavy drop. ‘Ghosts In The Machine’ is perhaps the stand out track with i_o bringing out his melodic side. Gareth also lends his vocals on the progressive house number, which sounds like it’s influenced by the mau5trap boss deadmau5’s classics. ‘Come With Me’ finishes off the EP on a high with the energetic techno beats coming to the fore again.
If you aren’t already on the i_o hype train, get on it already because the dark lord has proved again that he’s here to stay.
