Not long after Krewella & Nucleya played out their collaboration ‘Good On You‘ for the very first time live at Hyderabad during Vh1 Supersonic Arcade, the track is now officially released worldwide. The peppy number has best of both worlds as Jahan & Yasmine lend their exquisite vocals to Nucleya’s bass infused production. Apart from being a great song in its own right, ‘Good On You’ carries a lot of significance considering the Pakistani heritage of Yousaf sisters, who are coming together with India’s ‘Bass Raja’. Its a real treat for Desi people around the globe with the instrumental music filled with Indian elements and chorus that goes something like:
Californ-I-A to Bombay
Lemme get that body on me
Yeah, you, me and you
In a rickshaw or a ‘Rari
Doesn’t matter, I look good on you.
This marks Krewella’s fifth track of the year, while on the other hand, it’s Nucleya’s first release since he dropped his last album ‘Tota Myna’ in 2018. In an interview with Billboard Dance, Krewella shared how the collaboration came to be:
“We met him (Nucleya) on Skype and vibed out. He sent us a track. We wrote a top line, dismantled it and put it back together. Nucleya makes a lot of trap and bassy stuff. We took it in a bit of a different direction, and it became a hybrid of both our sounds. The song is probably the most ethnically-charged song we’ve ever made. It has a lot of different sound palettes from our Pakistani and his Indian roots. We’ve always been leaning towards that, but we’ve really leaned in hard for this one.”
With the release of ‘Good On You’, the duo of Yousaf sisters, Jahan & Yasmine, better known by their stage name Krewella have dropped a huge announcement for their sophomore album titled ‘zer0’. The long-awaited follow-up to their debut album ‘Get Wet’, will be released on January 31, 2020. Krewella has also shared the tracklist for this body of work. If we have to take Yasmine’s word for it, ‘zer0’ promises to be a hell of a ride as she says “Jahan & I dove into the deepest & darkest, and strangest depths of ourselves yet to create these songs. zer0 is a mindset, a place, a journey, a destination”
Post their two shows in India past month, Jahan & Yasmine reportedly visited Varanasi to shoot a colourful music video for ‘Good On You’. While we eagerly await to watch Krewella girls grooving to the song on holy ghats of Varanasi, Watch the lyric video of ‘Good On You’ here:
