Kobi Nigreker better known as Blastoyz, is one of the most promising and talented Psy-trance DJ/Producer. He has been playing at most of the world’s biggest festivals alongside Astrix, Vini Vici, Ritmo, Upgrade, Berg and many more. He has toured India a couple of times now and has a lot of fans still waiting for him to come back!

So we got a chance to interview the man himself! Check out the whole interview with the psy-trance legend below:
EDMLI : How did you first came under the influence of electronic dance music?
Kobi : I discovered psytrance around the year of 1999, when I was 9-10 years old. It’s very popular in Israel. My older brother used to produce music and DJ, so I simply followed what he did when I was younger. And soon realised how much I love music and the psytrance genre.
EDMLI : In early years, which software’s/interfaces did you use to produce music?
Kobi : When I just started to play with music back in the 2000’s, I had the following music production softwares on my PC the: Ejay, ProDJ which was really basic and easy to use. Years later I started to use Fruity Loops & Acid, and since 2006 until today I’m using Cubase.
EDMLI : Well, how did you come up with the name of your solo project as ‘Blastoyz’?
Kobi : The name came up back in 2006 when I was around 16 and in high school, since then I was working seriously on music and promoting myself online and everywhere that was possible. I was also playing some small events in Israel. DJ’s overseas were playing my tracks at festivals and it helped my project to get shows around the world. I’ve also been releasing singles and EP’s all the time over the past years, which also were played and supported by many artists such as: Astrix, Vini Vici, Skazi, Bizzare Contact, Berg, Bliss, Upgrade, Bryan Kearney and Ben Nicky many more friends.

EDMLI : We just got to know that as an Israeli, you spent three years in the Israeli Defense Force. How did you manage to do both the things at the same time?
Kobi : Like any 18-year-old Israeli citizen, I had to change my civilian uniform for the green uniform of the Israel Defense Forces and serve the country for 3 years which is a must here.
At the beginning it was very hard for me because it was totally interrupting to with my career plans and to stay focused in producing music. There are many artists in Israel which decide to not do the military service but here in Israel people don’t look at it in a good way, if you don’t do 3 years people here don’t like the fact you could but you choose to ignore it and keep with your own life or career. You also may loose a lot of privileges from the country for the rest of your life.
Anyway, I had problems in the beginning but then I knew that I’ll get what I want sooner or later in my life and I had big faith of reaching my dream after the military service.
EDMLI : We know you’ve toured a lot of countries. Which country is your favorite one to perform at? Any festival/club which you would like to play again at?
Kobi : I found so many countries & cities which I really fell in love with within seconds,
One of the festivals I’m definitely can say about is Burning Mountain which happens in the alps of Switzerland every year in June. I already played there 3 times and I always find a huge magic in this location and the vibes of this festival. I’m always staying extra days to be on the dance floor and actually feel the energy, which is amazing.
Another country that I really liked is Australia, so many nice people down there & Melbourne is such an amazing city.
More countries that I really enjoyed being at and say so many good things about are Argentina, Brazil, Thailand, Mexico and the list is countless.
EDMLI : You’ve previously played in India. So how’s the crowd here? We mean is it the same energy here as it is at other performances of yours?
Kobi : So if you didn’t know yet, my dad is originally from India and Indian tradition and food are always around me in my life, I finally got to be there at the beginning of January, I was extremely excited to go there. People were expecting me there so much specially after I made a track named “Parvati Valley” that got so much attention from India and from all over the world. There were even fans who were waiting for me at the airport to take pictures and greet me which never happened to me before.
The energy was so huge at the parties the people went crazy when I played and the vibes were totally amazing, I am so looking forward to go back there again!

EDMLI : Any special message for your Indian fans?
Kobi : Thanks for the huge support on the social networks, I can see all your comments and I am really looking forward to be back in India again, to play in every city that is possible and reach as much people as I can! Big love for you all! 🙂
