Where there is desire and passion, there is also hope. And the hope for the Electric Castle team is that 2021 will allow the return to the Banffy estate in Bonțida, to a new festival edition. All the activity in the past months meant the resumption, from scratch, of the preparations for the 8th edition, rescheduled between 14th and 18th July 2021. Following the UNTOLD campaign, few days ago Electric Castle launched #MyRayOfHope, the campaign through which festival fans, and not only, encourage each other talking about their hopes and desires for the following year. Today, the organizers announced the first headliners on the EC8 poster: one of the best alternative rock bands of the 2000s – Twenty One Pilots, geniuses Gorillaz & alt-metal legends Deftones.
Twenty One Pilots will be, for the first time, at the 8th edition of Electric Castle. The band’s reconfirmation came almost immediately after the announcement of this year’s postponement, a sign that the band is waiting with equal interest to meet, for the first time, with hundreds of thousands of fans in Romania.

For 20 years, the public and the music industry have been trying to find the most appropriate definition for Gorillaz. The project that Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett started in 2000 was interpreted either as an irony to the prefabricated image of pop bands, an experiment of little musical geniuses or an act of bravado. But that did not stop this cartoon band from constantly reaching the first places in the rankings. Beyond the very visual universe created by the characters imagined by Hewlett, as an image of the band, pieces like “Feel Good Inc.”, “Clint Eastwood” or “Dare” are small musical jewels that withstand the test of time. The year 2020 seems to belong to them: Gorillaz has released “Song Machine: Season One – Strange Timez” an album that the list of guest artists try, if necessary, the band’s reputation in the music world.

Deftones‘ confirmation in the list of artists for the 2021 edition of Electric Castle brings back to Romania one of the most original metal alternative bands of the last decades. With a history of success such as three platinum albums and personal tragedies, Deftones had influenced an entire generation of musicians through their unique sound.
