NIBIRU welcomed more than two million visitors during its first summer season, delivering 53 days of entertainment on Romania’s Black Sea coast. Running until 6 September, the programme brought together music, culture, sport, gastronomy, art and family activities, introducing a new entertainment concept to the seaside destination.

Combined with Beach, Please!, the wider destination generated more than 2.6 million visits, according to NIBIRU. The project also estimates that it contributed approximately €400 million to the economy of Constanța County, highlighting the potential of large-scale entertainment to support tourism and local businesses beyond the traditional summer holiday period.

Across its 53-day season, NIBIRU welcomed an average of 42,000 visitors daily, with numbers reaching approximately 50,000 during peak periods. The destination was designed to offer more than concerts, encouraging visitors to spend time exploring its restaurants, recreational facilities, cultural attractions and open-air entertainment spaces.

The extended season concluded with Christmas in September, an initiative inspired by a suggestion from visitors. Concerts, open-air cinema, children’s activities, festive decorations and themed evenings brought a winter-inspired celebration to the seaside just a few hundred metres from the Black Sea.

Beyond Music: A Destination Built Around Experiences

NIBIRU’s debut season featured more than 350 events and 500 artists, establishing a programme that combined major music festivals with theatre, comedy, sport, culinary experiences and family entertainment.

Under the artistic direction of director Răzvan Dincă, the promenade and Center Stage hosted seven recurring productions: Circus of Wonders, Neon Asia, Velvet Cabaret, Barrio Carnaval, Summer Disco Love, American Soul System and Worlds of NIBIRU. Returning weekly, the productions combined choreography, costumes, acrobatics, parades, musical performances and visual arts, transforming the promenade into an open-air stage for audiences of different ages.

Comedy also became part of the destination’s identity through The Fool Comedy Club. Throughout the summer, performers including Micutzu, Bordea and Drăcea entertained audiences with stand-up shows, solo performances, roast battles and open-mic evenings.

Meanwhile, NIBIRU Arena hosted major concerts and festivals in a venue designed to accommodate tens of thousands of people. Presented by NIBIRU as the world’s largest open-air club, the arena brought together Romanian and international artists across a wide range of musical genres.

International Festivals and Romanian Music

The music programme covered trap, hip-hop, Latin, reggaeton, house, techno, electronic dance music, K-pop, rock, Romanian pop, manele and nostalgic hits from the 1990s and 2000s.

Beach, Please! opened the season with performances by Playboi Carti, Future, Don Toliver, Tyla, Yeat and Quavo. GALAXIA brought Latin music stars Ozuna, Nicky Jam and Farruko to Costinești, alongside electronic artists HUGEL and DJ Snake.

Electronic music took centre stage at NEBULA X, featuring Black Coffee, John Summit, Charlotte de Witte, Marco Carola and The Martinez Brothers. K-POP DAYS welcomed TAEMIN, JEON SOMI, EVERGLOW and WHIB, attracting fans from Romania, South Korea, Greece, Austria, Spain, Bulgaria, Moldova, Australia, Germany and Italy.

ROCK DAYS celebrated Romanian rock and alternative music with Iris, VAMA, Vița de Vie, Subcarpați, Zdob și Zdub and byron. STARDUST revisited the sounds of the 1990s and 2000s through artists including Haddaway, Snap, Corona, Nana and ATC, while Popcorn Days celebrated Romanian pop music that had reached international charts.

RETROGRADE completed the series of major international festivals with Timbaland, Busta Rhymes, EVE, Fat Joe, Keri Hilson and La Familia.

Daily performances on Center Stage further strengthened the Romanian music offering, with artists including Smiley, Delia, INNA, Carla’s Dreams, Irina Rimes, Theo Rose, Antonia, The Motans, Alex Velea and Connect-R.

The diversity of the programme became one of NIBIRU’s defining characteristics. Established Romanian performers and emerging urban music acts shared the same destination with international stars, bringing together audiences with different musical tastes and generations.

Entertainment for All Generations

Beyond its concert venues, NIBIRU developed a broad recreational programme intended to make the destination accessible to families and visitors seeking activities throughout the day.

Padel and basketball courts, a roller rink, a zip line, a Ferris wheel, an amusement park and outdoor activity areas complemented attractions such as Hype Play, the Museum of Planets and the immersive MINA experience.

The family programme also included character parades, magic shows, puppet theatre, creative workshops, science experiments and interactive games. Street performers animated the walkways, turning the spaces between restaurants, attractions and stages into part of the overall experience.

NIBIRU Square became another gathering point, with its large screen hosting film screenings and live sports broadcasts. Visitors attended a premiere screening of TEAMBUILDING 2 alongside members of the cast, while football broadcasts brought supporters together. During the final week, Cinema Europa partnered with NIBIRU for an open-air screening of Home Alone, adding a festive touch to the seaside programme.

According to NIBIRU, the season concluded without major incidents. The organisation attributes this outcome to safety measures, continuous supervision and the site’s layout, which supported a comfortable environment for families.

The destination’s concept was built around a simple ambition: to create a place where parents and children could enjoy different experiences together, from concerts and dining to games, sports and cultural activities.

Celebrating Romanian Achievement

NIBIRU also used its stages to highlight Romanian achievements in science, sport, film and education.

During appearances hosted by Dan Negru, guests included Dumitru Prunariu, the only Romanian to have travelled into space, who opened NIBIRU before an audience of approximately 30,000 people. Former tennis world No. 1 Ilie Năstase and Romanian football figure Rică Răducanu also met audiences, bringing sporting history into the spotlight.

Actors Florian Munteanu and Codin Maticiuc appeared together to announce an initiative intended to support an emerging talent. The destination also recognised 32 winners of national academic competitions before an audience of thousands. Each received an open-ended publishing agreement from Bookzone, with no expiry date.

Special events gave individual weeks a distinct character. The Great NIBIRU Picnic made use of the destination’s green spaces, while Family Fest expanded its children’s activities. National Anthem Day brought together more than 25,000 people for an event hosted by Dan Negru and featuring Irina Baianț, the Romanian Naval Forces Band and naval personnel.

Sea Days featured aerial displays, parachutists, demonstrations and family activities. Beer Days, powered by URSUS, and the Wine Festival added tastings, concerts and brand experiences to the calendar, alongside a Gipsy Kings concert and themed events such as the Beach, Please! Party.

A Guinness World Records™ Achievement and Major Prize Campaigns

The first season also delivered a Guinness World Records™ achievement. LaProvincia, a Carmistin The Food Company brand, and chef Jannis Alexandridis prepared and served 425 kilograms of chicken wings, surpassing the previous record of 297.5 kilograms set in New York.

Visitor engagement extended beyond the entertainment programme through several prize campaigns. When NIBIRU reached its two-million-visitor milestone, Marian, a Romanian living in London, received lifetime access to the destination and a budget for experiences there.

The final weekend featured the Pink Friday grand prize campaign organised with Banca Transilvania. Customers purchasing tickets or passes for NIBIRU 2027 using a BT card received an additional 10% discount and automatic entry into a draw for a BYD Dolphin Surf electric car valued at €20,000.

The campaign closed on 5 September, with the draw held on 6 September, the final day of the season. The electric car was awarded to a winner from Constanța County.

Supporting the Black Sea Coast Economy

According to NIBIRU, the project’s economic impact extended beyond the destination itself, benefiting accommodation providers, restaurants and other local services in Costinești and surrounding communities.

The estimated €400 million contribution to Constanța County’s economy, alongside the daily visitor numbers, reflects the project’s ambition to create a destination that supports tourism through a sustained calendar of events rather than relying exclusively on traditional peak-season holidays.

The final weekend of August brought visitor flows to the southern coast more commonly associated with the height of summer, at a time when the tourism season would traditionally begin to slow.

By combining entertainment with food, sport, recreation and cultural activities, NIBIRU sought to encourage visitors to spend more time in the area and explore the wider coastal region.

An International Ambition for 2027

Following its debut season, NIBIRU’s next objective is to strengthen its international appeal and establish Romania’s Black Sea coast as a destination worth travelling to for major artists, festivals and distinctive experiences.

The long-term ambition is to attract international visitors through its entertainment programme and encourage them to stay longer, discover local communities and explore the wider Black Sea region.

The 2027 season is scheduled to run for 74 days, from 24 June to 5 September, with plans for new artists and experiences, improved infrastructure and a stronger international presence.

NIBIRU’s first summer brought together millions of visits, hundreds of artists, local businesses, international partners and audiences of different generations. Its debut has provided an initial test of a model that places entertainment at the centre of a broader tourism destination.

As the project looks towards 2027, its challenge will be to build on that first-season momentum, strengthen its international profile and continue developing experiences that give visitors new reasons to discover Romania’s Black Sea coast.
