Since the release of his album Imagine he decided to do world tour for promoting his albums, Imagine was the very first edition of it.
The concept is, he will play for a longer period of time 7-8 hours instead of his regular 1-2 hour of sets.
So basically he will be the only DJ, thats what Armin Only is, the very first of a theatre and dance music show where you can see everything from big and monstrous stage setup of its own unique kind / dancing acts / trampoline act / live on stage drum performance or that famous Ping Pong balls dropping moment from above .
In 2014 Mumbai saw something which was a dream for all Indian Armin fans, yes the debut of Armin Only India with Armin Only Intense, a 6 hour set of Armin van Burren from warm up to the main set we saw it all, if we need to define the experience then in very simple words it was a experience of a lifetime that can only be felt live and Armin nailed it.
Its a freestyle DJ set, where he has the freedom to do or change anything at the last moment even after having all the fixed show elements.
In Armin Only Intense he used a piece of software which can be installed on iPhone / iPad which can actually read out the CDJs(CD Players), so basically the dancers and the crew can see at the back stage what track is Armin playing and when they have to come on stage to perform. So lets say after the current track, next track is already scheduled with stage performance of dancers or something else and Armin changes his mind at last minute, so from their installed software on their devices they can be aware, ok, our performance is postponed 🙂 Thats the beauty of Armin Only, its a freestyle DJ set.
Every Armin Only tour showed us a different avatar of Armin, Imagine portrayed his image of posing with headphones that became very popular though.
Whole idea was to imagine,
Imagine a world without Vision, what would you see?
Imagine a world without Sound, what would you listen?
Imagine a world without Touch, what would you feel?
Imagine a world without Scent, what would you smell? and so on …
Intense was all about doing everything intensely, as he also says “Whatever you do, do it Intense”.
During his Intense world tour, he made one track specially for his Armin Only show thats still destroying all the dance floor till date, yes we are talking about Ping Pong 🙂
And yes this is the road movie of what exactly happened at Armin Only Intense, Mumbai (Jan 24, 2015) which covers everything from stage setup to what went wrong just before the performance etc..
During ASOT750 broadcast of Utrecht edition, Armin announced more cities to be a part of world tour.
More cities will be announced soon, lets keep our fingers crossed for Armin to bring his AO show to India again.
