Denver-based singer/songwriter Emilie Brandt is set to have a career year in 2018. She has just dropped her debut album titled “Freeform”. Known for her collaborative tune “Lost” with Illenium on his sophomore album Awake, she’s also impressed fans in the past with fire tunes like her single “Unspoken”. Emilie Brandt has found an undeniable level of comfort writing and performing songs not specifically confined to any boxed-in genre. For her it’s about confidently blending several influences and allowing personal experiences to shape her music.

Emilie Brandt’s  debut album flows with sounds of electro-pop, alt-rock, indie and a bit of everything in-between and brings it full circle with a powerfully unique voice that proves she is a new breed of artist.

We got an opportunity to talk with her:

1.Emilie, what were your earlier influences while growing up were they electronic dance music acts specifically or any others?

I’m still pretty new to the EDM world, I grew up listening to Mayday Parade and Paramore.

2. If you hadn’t decided to pursue music as a career then what do you think you would have ended up doing?

I got accepted to a few colleges after high school for graphic design but I eventually decided that I wasn’t passionate about it and chose to do music instead. Its scary to not have a degree like a lot of my friends do but I know I would have never been happy doing anything else but music and there would have been a huge void in my life.

3. Back in 2017 your collaboration with Illenium titled “Lost” was released, how did you guys team up for such a euphoric tune?

He was finishing up his album and was still looking for lyrics and vocals for that track. By some weird cosmic fate, the track ended up trickling down to my management and when I heard it for the first time, I immediately knew I wanted to be a part of it. It was a fast process, lyrics were written, then we recorded it to the track, and sent it back to Nick’s team within a matter of days. Nick contacted me that same week and said he was super stoked about it and wanted to move forward with it. I am very grateful to be a part of such a great collection of work on that album.

4. When your not in the studio or producing music, what do you spend your free time doing?

I like to stay active and spend a lot of time outdoors. I’m also a huge foodie, I love going out to eat whenever I travel and I love to cook too!

5. So Emilie, which is your dream venue or festival where you did like to perform?

Right now I really want to play Red Rocks. I’ve seen a few shows there since moving to Denver and it looks like a super fun venue to play.

6. Right now who’s your favorite vocalist within the electronic music scene?

I really love everything that MØ has been putting out. She seems like a super rad chick and I love how distinct her voice is.

7. What has been the most prominent highlight in your career so far?

Definitely working with Nick Miller. That collaboration opened a lot of doors for me, even in my own mind where I had a lot of self-doubt. When someone of his calibre really likes something you’ve created, it’s a confidence booster for sure.

8. How often do you interact with your fans on social media?

I try to interact with fans on social media as much as possible. I actually have conversations with people, but it’s funny because a lot of the time I am asked if I am “the real Emilie Brandt” because for some weird reason they don’t believe it could me. lol

9.What can we expect in the year 2018, any collaborations in pipeline?

Always working. I have a few fun projects in the works right now with some very talented people, but I can’t spill the beans. 🙂
