Fyre Festival Founder has been sentenced to 6 years in Prison. Over the past 18 months Billy McFarland has had endless lawsuits and verdicts following a defrauding case which left hundreds of attendees in a festival stranded.The festival, meant to happen in a small Bahamian tropical island did not have the footing to hold such a massive population incursion.
In July he was ordered by the federal court to pay back $24.7 million to the affected, moreover he pleaded guilty to two accounts of wire fraud charges.
“Bipolar does not excuse behavior, This was not a good idea gone bad, the bad intent was long withstanding,” “It is my conclusion based on all the submissions that the defendant is a serial fraudster and that to date his fraud like a circle has no ending”
McFarland lawyers defended him saying that he was Bi-Polar and hence begged for clemency but U.S. District Court Judge Naomi Buchwald remained staunch.
