Spotify is one of the leading music streaming apps around the globe. It is however, currently unavailable in India. We have been made to wait to use it since a very long time. Spotify is mostly popular among the EDM community because it gives the top charts for almost every EDM sub genre. Many respected artists also release their favourite tunes for their followers on Spotify. This long wait could be over for us in under 15 days time.

Spotify has signed a deal with T-series, one of India`s leading Music Record Labels this Monday. Spotify is rumoured to throw a launch party in Mumbai on January 31. It has already launched an office in Mumbai, hiring 300 people. In India they will face a huge competition from local streaming platforms like Saavn and Gaana. Hence, spotify is rumoured to also offer a free trial period of 30 days or so.

Initially they will be launching in India with the English language as an option. But it plans on expanding to local languages like Hindi, Bengali, Punjabi and Malayalam. They will also look to strike deals with labels offering music in local languages. All in all the EDM community in India will definitely be happy to be able to use Spotify in India.
