EDM superstar Steve Aoki has teamed up with legendary boy band Backstreet Boys to deliver a soulful single titled ‘Let It Be Me’. The 5 member vocal group who rose to stardom in late 90s with hits like ‘Everybody’, ‘As Long As You Love Me’, ‘Quit Playing Games’ released their comeback album ‘DNA’ earlier this year, now make their foray into electronic dance music through Steve Aoki. While Aoki adds another prolific name to his list of collaborations after having worked with Linkin Park, K-Pop boyband BTS, Louis Tomlinson of One Direction, Lauren Jauregui of Fifth Harmony.

Talking of their collaboration, Steve Aoki & Backstreet Boys released joint statements reciprocating their mutual respect :

“Being able to work with these guys was so organic and effortless. Collaborating with a group that I’ve been listening to since I was a kid was such a memorable moment for me. This song has a beautiful message and relates to a lot of different people overcoming challenges when you love someone, and love always wins in the end. I’m really proud of this one and know it will touch a lot of people.” – Steve Aoki

“Our collaboration with Steve came about in a very organic way. We had the opportunity to spend some time with Steve at his house really getting to know each other, and the song developed naturally from there. The message behind it is one we think everyone can relate to. It’s about working through any challenges that life brings to be with the person you love. And the importance of that message is something we really tried to show with the music video by having real couples tell their stories.”
– Backstreet Boys

The heartfelt number is accompanied by an equally touching music video. Directed by Tyler Dunning Evans, the four-minute-long video features various individuals sharing their stories of heartbreak and how love helped them overcome difficult times in their lives. We see stories of Micah, a man talking about how his wife beat brain cancer, Ryan who was born deaf, a transgender woman Ella who was disowned by her family and Britany who faced similar struggles because of her sexuality. All these stories end on a rather happy note when each of them is joined by their significant others.

‘Let It Be Me’ music video will certainly strike a chord and put a smile on your face. Watch it here:
