The annual DJ Awards ceremony at the end of the summer season in Ibiza took place last night to reward some of the most talented DJs who shone over the period of last one year. Hosted for the 2nd time at Heart Ibiza, the DJ Awards celebrated its 22nd edition this year. The awards ceremony saw some of the most influential DJs who took the scene by storm getting honored. A whopping list of 125 names was nominated in 14 categories.

Veteran DJ Carl Cox, who holds a unique record of getting nominated each year since the inception in 1998, took home the coveted trophy for International DJ of the year. DJ Awards recognized Charlotte De Witte‘s glorious rise through the ranks by awarding her with Techno DJ of the year. Aly & Fila won in Trance category while Maya Jane Coles, Chase & Status won in Deep House and Bass categories respectively. Ukranian duo Artbat was the breakthrough acts of the year.

According to DJ Awards, it was not only an important night for those who walked away with the coveted Kryptonite trophies, but also the event itself was taking on an important theme to support No More Plastic. In collaboration with Eco Partner Oceanic Global, the ceremony helped create awareness on the perils of plastic in the industry while building on Ibiza’s commitment to eco-conscious change.
