Tom Davidson and Daniel Magid, the duo have taken the scene by a storm with their signature blend of heavy bass house and nasty dubstep under the project name “RIOT”. RIOT’s music has found homes on labels such as Monstercat, Dim Mak, and Insomniac Records, including collaborations with heavyweights SLANDER, Kayzo, and Dirtyphonics.  RIOT’s massive remixes for Infected Mushroom, Knife Party, and Pegboard Nerds have placed them at the forefront of the modern bass scene.

Yesterday, the super-talented duo unveiled their first-ever storyline-based, immersive LP titled “Dogma Resistance”. To give their album a new dimension, they also dropped a limited edition signed comic book made by HERØ (the company also created comics for Rolling Loud, Project Z Festival, NGHTMRE, 311 and Shaggy and more). With the release of their diverse new album, we can certainly say that RIOT is undoubtedly the next big thing in the electronic music industry.

We got an amazing opportunity to chat with them following the release of their highly anticipated debut album, check it out!

1.Hey guys, congratulations on releasing your first-ever album! So how you guys are feeling?

RIOT: We’ve been working on and off on this album for more than 2 years now. We’re most excited to let the listeners into our brains and have them be able to experience the full story in its final form. We grew and evolved as individuals working on the project and the album symbolizes that journey.

2. With the release of “Dogma Resistance”, you guys have also released a  comic book concept. What does it signify & how it relates to the album?

RIOT: Being able to put our story into a motion graphic novel was a really unique and cool experience we will never forget. Working hand in hand with another creative team that fully gets your story and vision is something we never thought could happen. It brings the Dogma Resistance story to life! Just crazy working with good creatives that share a common goal and vision!

3.Any memorable studio session(s), moments during the album production process you would like to share with us?

RIOT:  Oh wow, it’s been over two years of on and off work on this album but if we have to name one right off the bat it was recording the vocals and the sound effects for the intro and the outro of ‘Aiwa’. That night was a really fun one for us and the studio!

4. How would you describe your music and the process to channelize influences in your productions & remixes?

RIOT: That’s honestly a question we can’t answer ourselves. That’s more a question for you to ask our fans. They determine what our sound is we just make music that we believe is special to us. No genre’s, no pressure….just love for music.

5. You’re currently on your Fall-Winter Tour & you’ll be taking over some of the biggest venues such as Avant Gardner, EXCHANGE LA. What the attendees can expect following the album release?

RIOT:  A full-blown RIOT! But on a more specific note, we’re planning something special for our Exchange LA takeover as it’s our biggest headline show to date. We are doing our first official party launch titled ‘RIOT Presents THE MOB!’, you’ll have to be there to see it 😉

6. How did Monstercat play an important role in shaping your musical career?

RIOT: Monstercat was always a record label we looked up to and dreamed about working with. We’re very grateful for the opportunity that was presented to us back in 2016. If we have to point a finger about something specific it’ll probably the community. Monstercat is so much more than a record label, it’s a family, it’s a movement. Above the extremely passionate and professional team, the fans are so loyal and involved with our art and that’s definitely something that keeps pushing us to be the best versions of ourselves.

7.Any special message to your fans based in India?

RIOT: Can’t wait to start a RIOT with you all!
