Tomorrowland, the Belgium based festival is planning to expand to a three-weekend gathering next year. Like every major electronic music festival, Tomorrowland was impacted due to the COVID-19 pandemic and had to cancel its previous two editions and had to go virtual to deliver the festival experience it is known for. Not only the Belgium editions were cancelled but also its winter edition -‘Tomorrowland Winter‘ in France had to be called off.

Now, the cancellation of these editions have costed the organizers of Tomorrowland about €25 million, drastically affecting all its partners, vendors and crew. Tomorrowland’s spokesperson Debby Wilmsen stated that the festival wants to add another weekend to its annual edition in order to compensate for the losses and at the same time to pay off the debt. He also added that, earlier the festival wasn’t planning for a three weekend edition but the financial situation has led the festival to explore this alternative. Tomorrowland will get in touch with the municipal authorities of Boom, Rumst & Antwerp in order to get the required approvals.
