The Chemical Brothers, Iggy Pop, and George Ezra headline Electric Castle’s 9th edition’s first 30 artists. Alongside them are Sigur Ros, Tash Sultana, Peggy Gou, REZZ, Pendulum, and many others, confirming EC’s status as a festival that bravely explores varied musical genres and trends.

The Chemical Brothers have been popular for almost 20 years despite their avant-garde music. After six Grammys and songs like Galvanize, Go, and Believe, the Brits remain regular folks making strange music for millions of fans worldwide.

George Ezra, a folk pop pleasure, visits Romania for the first time at a particular juncture in his career. Gold Rush Kid is Ezra’s coming-of-age song after two successful albums, starting with Budapest. Ezra retires in 2023, making the EC main stage concert a must-see.

Iggy Pop‘s self-definition—I’m the guy who plays rock with his bare chest—has inspired generations of musicians, cinematic characters, and biographies (official and unauthorized). The godfather of punk is due to release a new album, and the first single, Frenzy, promises that at Electric Castle we will witness Iggy Pop at his finest in a decade.

The Icelandic bands Sigur Ros and Nothing But Thieves confirm that the castle listens to a lot of rock, including alternative and post-rock, all of it excellent. After a 10-year hiatus, Australian drum and bass legends Pendulum will perform at Bonțida in a live band format.

Tash Sultana belongs on your playlist. The Australian artist’s innovative, reggae and R&B-influenced rock approach will excite newcomers. Peggy Gou maintains her promise to Electric Castle supporters, confirming for the July 19–23, 2023 edition. Romy, Noga Erez, and The British Nova Twins round out the lineup at a festival that promotes artistic diversity. At Electric Castle, Europe’s biggest DnB label turns 25. Hospital Records night features Netsky, Metrik, Flava D, and Anais exploring jungle and liquid music.

Until December 20, Electric Castle subscriptions are 129 euros + VAT. Monthly subscriptions are available to the public till the same date. The organizers reveal new glamping accommodations in EC Village‘s special structure area. Variants include cottages, igloos, and ready-made tents for 2 to 7 people. Tents, caravans, and auto camping are still choices. Electriccastle.ro has all the info.
