India’s biggest electronic music festival is entering a new era. Sunburn Festival 2026 has officially announced its 19th edition, bringing a major venue shift, a redesigned format and a fresh creative identity that aims to make this year’s experience more immersive than ever before.

For the first time, Sunburn Festival 2026 will take place at the iconic Mahalaxmi Racecourse on December 18 and 19. The move places the festival right in the heart of Mumbai, giving fans easier access while expanding the scale of the event. The venue already holds a strong connection with Sunburn’s legacy, having hosted unforgettable performances by artists like Avicii, Swedish House Mafia and Martin Garrix over the years.

This year, Sunburn is moving away from its extended multi-day structure and introducing a concentrated two-day format focused on high-energy performances and a more seamless fan experience. The festival will officially conclude with a massive closing party at the NSCI Dome on December 20, extending the celebration beyond the main festival weekend and giving fans one final large-scale experience after the headliner performances at the Racecourse.

Sunburn Festival 2026 will introduce a new theme called “Awaken the Core”, marking what organisers describe as a shift from pure spectacle to a more emotionally charged and immersive experience. The theme reflects the festival’s evolution over nearly two decades, as it continues to grow from a music event into a cultural movement that brings together fans from across India and beyond.

The announcement also highlighted the festival’s growing national reach. Nearly half of the attendees at the previous edition reportedly travelled from outside Mumbai, while many fans said the festival’s atmosphere, large-scale production and shared community experience were key reasons for attending. Registrations for Sunburn Festival 2026 are now open on BookMyShow, with exclusive pre-sale access for RuPay credit card holders beginning on May 14, followed by registered users on May 16. General ticket sales for all users will begin on May 18 at 12 PM.
