We got an opportunity to chat with Frans Zimmer better known by his stage name Alle Farben about his recent album, influences & lot more.

1. Hello Alle, how was the first half of 2019 for you?

It has been really moving so far. The first half of 2019 was the time before the album release as well as the time after the album release. For me, 2019 has been all about the album so far, which makes me really happy because it turned out to be a really beautiful album of which I’m really proud. In addition to that, I also have a lot of amazing feature guests on my new record. At the beginning of 2019, I was on the road in Asia to gain energy for the upcoming year. Now I’m ready to go and have a lot of energy for 2019!

2. You recently came down to India for Sunburn Klassique in Goa, how was your experience? That was an amazing experience. I’ve never been to India before but it was a remarkable festival. A bit chaotic behind the scenes but all in all really cool. Also, it’s been a pleasure to play in a land I haven’t been before so far away from home. I’ve played in Asia a lot before but India has been really different. It’s a different feeling there but the people were really kind, enjoyed the music and were ready to have a good time. I´d come back any time!

3. You recently dropped your third studio album “Sticker On My Suitcase”, can you describe to us why did you choose this title and what message do you want to convey through your new music?

My album is about traveling which is why I called it “Sticker on my Suitcase”  As typical for me the record has a happy feeling to it but a lot of twists and deeper meaning in the lyrics – a little bit like Yin and Yang. If you look at the Song „Sticker on my Suitcase“ for example, it is a really jolly song at first glance. But after listening to a bit closer you realize that it’s about how not everything is always amazing when you are on the road and how you sometimes have to leave home even though you don’t want to. On the other side you, of course, have a nice life on travels. I generally really like it to tell some kind of story within my songs and especially in the lyrics. As a whole, the album is about traveling, because it has been the biggest topic in my life ever since I started my career 5 years ago. I was simply looking for a vessel to channel all these experiences into.

4. For your captivating single “Walk Away”, you teamed up with James Blunt. Can you tell us the process/story behind this collaboration?

To work with James is amazing! I really like how he says about himself that he is the most uncool guy he knows. Funny, because if that is true he is the coolest most uncool guy that I know. Working with him was especially refreshing because we were working in a different way than I´m used to normally. As the first contact, he sent me a demo, with which I tinkered about for a while and then sent it back. He liked it, so we got together and met up to shoot the music video. It was really nice, James is a really funny person. Something I appreciated about James was that he is a pretty straight forward kind of guy when it comes to working. He simply wants to achieve the best, which is something I want as well.
It was a great time working with him!

5. What is the biggest influence in your life in terms of music?

It´s probably been really important for me that my parents used to listen to a lot of music, but one of my earliest and biggest influences has got to be my brother since he gave me my first Mixtapes, which I listened on my way to school when I was like 12 or 13. That way I started to listen to music on my own and began collecting music. This turned me into a music enthusiast. A bit later then I started to DJ, which got me into contact with some music producers. Those producers then paved my own way into music production. Bottom line is that it’s always been the people I hung out at the time that influenced me the most, except for my brother of course.

6. Which are the 4 top tunes on your playlist right now?

My top 4 Songs are:

Billie Eilish – Bad Guy

Lil Nas X, Billy Ray Cyrus – Old Town Road (Diplo Remix)
Normally I don’t listen to that much chart music but with these 2 tracks, I couldn’t help myself.

Bob Moses – Enough to Believe
A bit sad and melancholic but really really beautiful.

AKA AKA, Oscar House – Jumbo

Great song from 2 guys that usually play more techno. That song goes a bit more into the direction of Big-Room-House, which I really liked. Amazing for bigger shows!

7. What does Frans do when he’s not in the studio or touring?                                                    When I’m not in the studio I love to cook. Especially for friends of mine. I really like it to invite some friends over and fill up the kitchen with people. During my free time, I could stand in the kitchen all day.

8. Any message for your fanbase in India?                                                                                           Of Course! I’d definitely like to come back to you guys, you have been so kind to me. After my show, I was celebrating and having such a good time with you. Keep on doing such amazing festivals and keep up your great music culture!

I hope you invite me back soon. Until then!
