antiSOCIAL, a place dedicated to expression, deep in the underground of Indian contemporary culture has got a new address in Mumbai. Social Offline is back with its underground property antiSOCIAL in a bigger, better way with a new address in Mumbai. With the backdrop of the grungy warehouse of Todi Mills, antiSOCIAL is returning to Bombay. While the earlier iteration at Khar Social became an urban hotspot that trampolined the indie music scene into the mainstream Indian ethos, antiSOCIAL Lower Parel is going to be bigger than that. With a state-of-the-art AV set up and a banging (almost mythical) calendar of Indian and International artists already planned, AntiSOCIAL will be the new beating heart of Indian subcultures.
Riyaaz Amlani, CEO & MD, Impresario Handmade Restaurants, says,
“When antiSOCIAL closed in December 2017, it left a vacuum. Now that it is back, it is filling a much-needed gap in India’s cultural landscape. anti has been on the cutting edge of contemporary culture – an experimental space that helps further the cause of underground music and the arts, and the communities around it. antiSOCIAL Khar was a small space where massive experiments took place – the idea eventually outgrew the space it was confined to. That’s when we knew we had to make it bigger and better. There are very few venues that command the kind of dedicated audience and following that antiSOCIAL has. This is one of the biggest reasons why we are able to do what we do, i.e. create a state-of-the-art performance venue that can accommodate artists, bands, and sounds of all sizes and genres. We see antiSOCIAL as an incubator supporting the most promising talent across subcultures. This is the definitive mecca for indie music, and India’s representation of the global scene.”
The people curating the experience — from the sound to the lights, to the programming, and the food and drinks — everything about what you witness at anti will be off-stream. But antiSOCIAL is as much about the community as it is about the experience. A truly special club is the epicenter within which a local scene exchanges art, ideas, and nurtures rising talent. And antiSOCIAL has been integral to shaping how India builds community and keeps exciting subcultures alive. From giving birth to inclusive, genre-bending events to hosting up-and-coming independent artists and free expressionists, we are a forward-thinking space where creators and collaborators thrive.
