British-Norwegian DJ/Producer, Alan Walker came into the light with his astounding progressive house track titled “Faded”, which has topped the charts of many different countries across the globe. With his many accomplishments at such a young age it is exciting to know what does he have in store for us in the upcoming year. Therefore, EDMLI had the privilege of chatting with Alan Walker.

He discusses about the possibilty of collaborating with an Indian artist, about his future plans and more. Check it out below:

EDMLI: From “Fade” to “Faded” being released on Sony, how would you describe the journey of making a chart topper & owning the world with a single hit?
Alan: It has been a magical journey. Ever since I produced ‘Fade’ it has been a mad record and an amazing experience. I never really imagined that I’d be so popular. ‘Faded’ is remarkable and I couldn’t be more thankful because it’s so hard to do that and you know I’m just thankful for the love and support that my fans have shown!

EDMLI: We got to know that you were a programmer before. So what was it that made you take up music?
Alan: I was always interested in how the computer software works. I was curious about how electronic music was made so i started learning how to produce music by watching videos on Youtube.

EDMLI: It might be a spoiler alert for you, but EVC has one of the most beautiful venue among all the festivals in India, how excited are you to play over there as it will be your India debut as well? What can we expect from your set?
Alan: Well, this is the first time I’m coming to India and I’m excited for EVC. I would love to comeback to India anytime soon because I think India is one of my biggest fan bases. I think EVC will be remarkable so I’m looking forward to that!

EDMLI: How does it feel having your track played by every big DJ including names like Tiesto, Hardwell, Dash Berlin & more in almost every set of theirs?
Alan: When i first heard that almost every big DJ was dropping ‘Faded’, I had never in my life thought that one day Tiesto and me would have our names on the same track. He made his first remix especially for his Northern Lights Tour, which is pretty sick to think about, and I honestly have no clue why he decided to make two, but I am very happy with both of the remixes, he did a fantastic job. As an artist it was a big deal for me, being a newcomer in the industry, I never really imagined this to happen. As the track gained more and more popularity, more of the big guys heard my track.

EDMLI: Electro and Tropical house are usually taken up as two really different genres. Where did the inspiration come from to combine both?
Alan: I really liked the tropical house sound and also i liked the sound of EDM so I really wanted to combine both to make some ear soothing sounds!

EDMLI: Your music has been really inspiring to the young talent. So which DAW and instruments do you use to get a track together?
Alan: Its really good to know that i can inspire so many people. I use Fruity Loops more commonly known as FL Studio.

EDMLI: In a recent interview of yours we got to know that you wanted to explore the Indian culture, got a bucket list ready?
Alan: I’ve always wanted to come down to India. Now that I am making my debut at EVC, I hope I get to know the indian culture better.

EDMLI: Your upcoming release ‘Alone’ is scheduled to release on 2nd December. What other releases do you have planned for 2017?
Alan: I have some more singles and a couple of remixes lined up for 2017 and I’m really looking forward to it.

EDMLI: Any artist in India who’s music you are familiar with or would like to collaborate with in the future?
Alan: So far i’ve really liked the Lost Stories remix of my track ‘Faded’, they will also be joining me at EVC & I think a possible collaboration would be cool as well. There are a lot of talented producers coming up from India now.
