The UAE music and dance community rejoiced on November 29 and 30 with Bao Festival : A new two-day festival brought some of EDM’s biggest names to Dubai Brought by Envie Events (who put on other big EDM festivals such as Unite with Tomorrowland and Sensation), It was a two day affair of ‘music, dance, fashion, food, carnival, culture & leisure – all celebrating the Chinese culture and its long-standing relationship with the Middle East’.
The event, the name of which translates to ‘treasure’, was inspired by Chinese explorer Zheng He, who led several voyages in the 15th century, including the Arabian Gulf, in search of ‘treasures and riches’. Both the days were nine hours of dedicated partying each day. The first night brought Marcus Santoro, DJ Licious, Marcus Santoro, Alok, R3HAB, Afrojack and closing set by Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike.Second day saw Dante Klein, Brooks, Salvatore Ganacci, Nervo, Don Diablo and Martin Garrix with an epic Closing set. BAO Fesival turned the Meydan Racecourse into an area that comes to life at night with bright visuals lighting up the artistic stage.
Despite the enthusiasm of seeing the likes of Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike and Afrojack, who are ranked No 2 and 8 respectively by DJ Mag, there is no doubt it is the world No 1 DJ, Martin Garrix, who the crowd looked forward to the most. The first ever BAO Festival hosted two magical nights with stunning stage productions, pyros, lasers and lot of memories to cherish!
Bao Festival got the most feverish party atmosphere in Dubai for these two nights and we hope for Envie to keep up the trend and bring more amazing festivals to UAE more often.
